GamerXGATT-3rd world problems? Best Buy, Walmart, Target all have HDTVs at low prices. Hell even Walmarts Vizeos and Best Buys Insignia store brands are decent. If you can afford the system, you can afford a budget HDTV.
Also-DONT cancel if you're hard up for cash. Pick up your system and flip it Friday to get a cheap TV and have $$$ left for your future console. Go to eBay to see what I mean.

I'm getting an X1 and PS4 but there's PLENTY to be excited for on PS3 and 360. On top of the titles mentioned in the article, don't forget all the DLC for current games (I'm looking at you GTAV!) Not only that, last gen transition brought MASSIVE price drops on Xbox and PS2 titles, giving you a great chance to catch up or revisit overlooked gems.
I'd say it's exciting times for current gen owners too
Both my X1 and PS4 are paid off sans $0.01 Walmart legally won't let you pay off a layaway/preorder without delivering you a product. That said-best of luck guys and stay safe! I'll see you on PSN and XBL
Boneso82-100% correct about Polygon. My coworker is a RABID Xbot and gets all his info from them, going as far as to show up an hour early (his shift is after mine) to preach from the great psalms of Polygon.
I'm getting both X1 and PS4 so I don't know why he does it.
Best part, he didn't preorder ANY console and thinks he'll be able to walk into GameStop 11/23 and get an X1. I'll be bragging about my X1 and PS4 on release and this kid won't have shit...

Lwhit6-Yeah, because a $500 console that red rings would be just great for the gaming world. A lot of Non gamers (parents, grandparents etc) STILL refer to gaming machines as "Nintendos". I'd keep an eye on Black Friday ads, but also keep in mind, "Black Monday" is the day to get deals online. It's become the biggest online sales day of the year, so don't lose hope if you miss out on Friday.

R_aVe_N, I read that too, they stated "up to" 25, but that was in Canada if Im correct. "Up to" doesn't give much hope. Are they extra consoles from Sony, or is Best Buy gambling on 25 people not able to pay for their preorders?
Also remember, if these consoles are going for big bucks on eBay (which is already happening) those extra 25 will probably be snapped up from employees at Best Buy looking to make a few bucks.

I learned my lesson from the 360/PS3/Wii launch. PREORDER. If you haven't, your choices are to camp out, pay through the teeth on eBay, or wait it out for possibly quite some time. If I remember, consoles didn't start showing up in stores till Easter or even after. I DO feel sorry for the parents (usually not informed) of kids wanting one for Christmas, but to anyone else who expected to waltz into Gamestop and pick one up? Not so much. Preorder options were aplenty, even with no mone...

KNWS-Where can you preorder EITHER console right now? You speak as if you can waltz into GameStop and do so. Just saying, since you brought up preorders. They're selling for about $700+ on eBay right now, and that number is sure to climb as the latecomers realize you can't get any otherwise and the holidays approach.
All the apps and gimmicks are fine but NOT if they infringe on the core purpose of a console and at the cost of the quality of games. An example I point out is the Kinect 2.0-X1 game quality suffers because of it. I understand there is a small crowd that plays Kinect adventures etc, but a larger crowd plays Call of Duty
