It's all good and proper but the problem is that the only way you could play any games not designed for PS4 or PS Now would be by disk, which is why even having an emulator is redundant.
Regardless of what anyone says, licensing is an issue. Sony doesn't have the right to publish any game it did not publish itself during any of the previous eras and I fairly doubt the studios back then signed an agreement for their products to ge eternally reused.

When you compare the increase in cost to the increase of demand you find companies make more money now then they ever did before.
The rising cost of developing is eating into the maximum amount of potential profit of those at the top, that's why there'll be a price increase.
Ninja Theory's Dmc felt like the most inspired and original since Dmc 3. It's a shame it bombed as it did offer a rich environment and character development which the original series took around 4 games to do in a single game.
To be fair, considering its perception it says a lot that they based DMC5 Nero around Ninja Theory's Dante and incorporated some of their gameplay features.

Considering Lumin and UE5 are supposed to deliver more realistic features and decrease the amount of effort that devs have to put into making games physically appealing, I would say increasing the price would damage profits and be a mistake.
Look at when current gen titles were due an increase, in the UK (I don't know about US) Game and other stores continued to sell the games for the same price as last gen and took a hit because they knew people would more likely wait ...

Actually the Wii was a fantastic console against PS and Xbox as it offered a much different alternative and reached wider audience as it was easy and accessible for all ages and abilities. In fact, PSVR wouldn't have the controllers it does and Xbox wouldnt have an avatar system as both were something that was enjoyed about the console and was copied by Microsoft and Sony.
