I really don't think critics will change their minds and jump on the hate bandwagon. I've never seen it happen before and besides, most reviewers seem to be rating the developer and not the game.
Yep, sounds like Capcom alright... Let the DLC milking begin.
If Platinum games made this new "Donte" in 60fps and with a lock-on button, then I guarantee you that they wouldn't get even half the hate Ninja Theory got.
But don't worry, most of the gaming media has decided months (if not years) ago that this game is a 10/10 masterpiece. So even though the game will be a commercial flop, it will be a Metacritic success.
Well said, my friend! Someone give this guy a medal.
The only way I see cloud gaming becoming mainstream is if you pay a monthly fee (like $10 or $15) and you get to play all the games available on that service during that time frame. Paying $60 for a game that I can't hold in my hands or display on a shelf with the rest of my collection (you know... actually owning the thing) is just not going to work for me.
Indeed! It's incredibly naive to believe that a measure designed to increase publisher's profits will lead them to drop new game prices. What would be the point of opening a revenue channel while closing another?
In the immortal words of James Rolfe:
"What were they thinking?!"
Yeah, but if console manufacturers decide to implement this kind of DRM, then they're just asking for it!
@ WolfLeBlack - "Gamers are always complainging that companies aren't willing to take a big risk with their established franchises these days."
I don't entirely agree with you. Nobody wants a stagnant franchise but, if anything, gamers are always complaining that companies aren't willing to take risks BEYOND their established franchises, so we get sequel after sequel after sequel... We don't get many new IPs these days, which is exactly what this gam...
Being on disc or not is irrelevant. The simple existence of day 1 DLC should be more than enough warning for gamers to stay away from this train wreck of a game. I can almost bet you the true ending will come in the form of DLC.
Along with Sega Rally and Guardian Heroes while they're at it.
You don't even need to hypothesize, we have a fairly recent example of this in the form of 2008's release of Prince of Persia.
With a metascore of 85, I think it's safe to say PoP was a pretty good game, and I really enjoyed it. But the fans wanted the old PoP back and they got exactly what they wanted, denying newcomers to the series (such as myself) from a sequel to the reboot. Oddly enough, I don't recall people defending that game so feverishly, as I...
How clueless are you? The fans are hating on this game because it's not the "real" Devil May Cry.
The main character, or the color of his hair have nothing to do with it. That discussion came and went years ago, when the game was originally announced.
Yes, because anyone with legitimate criticism for DmC is a whiny, entitled cry baby. What's there not to like about this masterpiece of digital entertainment? Besides, true gamers don't criticize or expose flaws, they just take whatever the developer/publisher is looking to shove down their throats, without question! And they do it with a smile, Amirite?
Do these "butthurt fanboys" truly believe their complaints could actually hold substance? That's just...
Well, if some of you guys love this game so much, then you can buy 20 copies each and show your gratitude to the developer by offering them the illusion of success. Because I figure that's the only way they will get to taste success, after repeatedly insulting the existing fanbase.
No one in is right mind can say Donte may Cry plays exactly like classic DMC and if you do, then you are a liar or you've never played a DMC game before... Probably both!
I...
Early reviews are always to be frowned upon. That's expected.
I think you meant to say most of Ninja Theory's games are "hidden gems" (although even that is open to debate).
"Sleeper Hit" refers to a product that has been unexpectedly successful with the public, which is obviously not the case here.
The price is just the first of this system's many problems. Even for collectors/enthusiasts this is a tough sell.
Let me exemplify with the opinion of a long time Neo Geo fan, someone who really knows the system from inside and outside (literally - he's the one who repaired the Neo Geo arcade board for Classic Game Room's Youtube channel):
Street Fighter Alpha 3 is my favorite 2D fighter ever. I would pay anything for a 2D SFA4 in 1080p HD. They could then recycle the sprites for an HD Capcom vs SNK. That would be a sight to behold.
Question: if the NRA hates violence so much, if they are so offended by it and are apparently aiming for a world without violence, then why do they need guns in the first place? I think anyone with half a brain will have to agree that is completely backwards.
So... Hhhhuuummm... Is the rumor confirmed?... Or is it confirmed to be a rumor?
My head hurts...
