A "composite" huh? So that's what we're calling it these days? If geometry is rendered in 540p, then the game is 540p. End of story. I don't care if the hud is 2160p. This whole mess is worsened by the fact that Alan Wake was supposed to give Uncharted 2 a run for it's money and kick start a new era in Xbox 360 game engines.
Being a fan of the Max Payne games, I was really excited for Alan Wake when it was announced 5 years ago. Then they removed the open world, then ...
@ mittwaffen - You can't really compare last gen to the current one, not even "roughly speaking". Or rather you can, but you'd have to neglect the fact that the PS3 sold more than the original Xbox in half the time, and the gap between 360/PS3 sits at 5-6 million versus 110-115 million for the Xbox/PS2.
So no, Sony is not "in MS shoes from last gen". Can you even provide us with a link to back up your claims about production costs and profitability, or are ...
@ Montralien - True, but one week of sales in Japan covers the 20k-40k monthly gap between PS3/360 in NA.
I agree. His first comment is the kind of stuff that belongs and is most welcome in the Gamer Zone. Too bad it went downhill from there.
I'll be damned... It is you!!! http://forums.gametrailers....
And apparently CVG is also on your "to troll" list. http://forums.computerandvi...
Mods, are you seeing this?
I can tell by your silly, ignorant and off topic comment that you never played Uncharted 2. Reported. Open Zone is that way -------->
By the way, are you the same labwarrior that used to troll around and get pwned on a daily basis at the GT forums?
The PlayStation 3 was launched on 11 November 2006 in Japan, 17 November 2006 in NA and 16 March 2007 in Europe. That makes it 3.5 years old in Japan/NA and a little over 3 years old in Europe. I must ask... Where did you learn maths?
@ 1.2 - If PD are the ones talking trash, then what do you make of Turn 10's behavior? Politically correct argumentation?/s
And you forgot Resistance 3 and The Last Guardian.
@ above
The silly Metacritic fanboy wars are nothing new and they sure as hell weren't started by the "PS3 community". They were started by Xbox fanboys (=/= community) in the LBP Metacritic page - http://kotaku.com/5068586/f... . And if anyone is at an "all time low", it's fanboys on both camps.
BTW you're acting like a butthurt fanboy yourself. Nob...
So these guys left EA at odds in 2002 after working in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, resulting in a lawsuit. They joined Activision and even took a stab at EA when they closed a studio in 2008, using COD4 (remember the message "EA Chicago: Infinity Ward is hiring. jobs@infinityward.com"?). Now they leave Activision, with a lawsuit in progress and go back to EA?
Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees the irony here.
@ dangert12:
I can't say I agree with you... In fact, I completely disagree. A great game becomes great for it's own merits regardless of the number of platforms it was released on. You can't say "this game would be awesome if it was on my platform of choice, but since it's not it's just average". That's the kind of thing only a fanboy would say.
Or are you trying to say that what makes a game "genre defining" is the number of systems it was r...
The guy uses an Xbox avatar and admits to not having a PS3...
What did you expect?
You're just mad because Turn 10 overpromised and underdelivered with their GT5 wannabe Forza 3.
That and because it's another slow news day on the 360 channel.
You know what sounds arrogant?
"We have the best games and all the franchises."
I'll give you a cookie if you can remember who said that.
EDIT @ 5.8 - It wasn't Bill Gates. Try again.
EDIT #2 @ 5.8 - Getting colder. It wasn't Gabe.
EDIT #3 @ 5.8 - Ooohhh... Giving up so soon? Ok, ok I'll tell you. It was Aaron Greenberg. Poster boy for arrogant remarks.
BTW, your preference in controllers =/= fact. And good lu...
Your point being?
Because last time I checked, the DS wasn't a direct competitor to the PS3, the 360 was. And I don't know if you realized it, but the 360 got outsold by pretty much all the other systems on the market.
Yeah, G4 used to be great and it saddens me to see how much they have fallen. Icons used to be one of my favorite videogame related shows... until the moment it stopped talking about videogames, that is.
All G4 has now is Olivia "MacHammer" Munn. *sigh*
This doesn't surprise me at all. Uncharted 2 is first and foremost a single player experience, and what an experience it is! I'm glad that the developers kept the main focus on the single player. The multiplayer was created latter in order to add replay value to the game. Fans of online gaming have probably moved on to games like MAG, Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2 or even Bioshock 2.
Personally I thought the co-op was a lot of fun, but I could never really get into the compet...
Oh man... I remember playing Hydro Thunder on my Dreamcast some 10 years ago. Really fun game. Great times!
Now if only someone would do a sequel/remake of San Francisco Rush 2049. That's one of my favorite arcade racers. I have fond memories of pwning my friends at that game on the local (now defunct) arcade.
Damage control from a supposedly independent reviewer!? Would we have a similar article if it was Heavy Rain in Alan Wake's shoes?
Can't wait for their review of Alan Wake. No bias in the media that's for sure./s
