On a technical side I've never seen the UE look so smooth while maintaining an awesome framerate.
Batman AA and Bioshock are smooth but are nowhere near as chaotic and broad as Mass Effect.

There are several other key things that could make a kid want a 360 for christmas.
A. The entire 360 library will be new to him.
B. Wants to join his friends.
C. XBL has the better pro gaming and active community.
Kid wants to watch Blu Ray? ...Nah.
Kids watch TV....the Xbox 360 is everywhere...it has product placement in several shows.
Kids = susceptible to product placement in TELEVISION...
I play games to play games.
There can be a game that scored a damn 6 and I'd find it interesting enough to have fun with it.
