Less profit made on hardware sales may, however, help to increase digital download sales. It costs money to make money.
Personally, I don't use the movie rental services because (well, it costs too much in Canada for some reason also but) because I really have no room left on my 20 gig hard drive. I don't store music on it, (I stream that from my PC to save space), and I don't keep demos on it either since that takes up space. A few downloads from GRAW 2 here and there, some Ra...
Here is my honest opinion to what Microsoft should be doing to address their filesize concerns.
1 - "Release much higher capacity memory cards and bundle these cards with their Arcade models". Personally, I think the Arcade model is a bunch of crap, but it is probably here to stay so we'll have to deal with it. But why does it only come with a 256 megabyte memory card? I've seen 1 and 2 gigabyte SD cards on sale for like 15 dollars, with 4 gig cards costing around 30-...
There should be some kind of option in your profile to block out from gaming with you based on age. And all games should have age based settings that block a younger gamer from playing online in the mature rated games. I'm not saying don't let squeaky play Viva Pinata or whatever, but when he is online he should not be able to play the mature rated games. Ultimately, it's the parents that let their kids play these games, but Microsoft and Sony should try and bar certain gamers from participat...
You know, I kind of like the whole metroid idea. Raise the fear factor and the like. You would have to make it M-Rated though, and oh oh, all the little kiddies can't play it anymore. Personally, I would love a concept like this, it would be something new for Nintendo to try and do and it would really push metroid into a new direction. Great idea. Survival Horror metroid, could work.
The Zelda idea, err..., well advancing to a different time period might not be such a bad idea....
I had some pretty high hopes for Blacksite, and I was definately disappointed. It's not the worst game ever made (I'm sure Hour of Victory falls a lot closer to it then Blacksite does), but it definately "could have been left in the oven another 6 months". Another year in development worked well for Timeshift. That one wasn't the greatest game ever, but it was short and sweet and I enjoyed it. I can't say I didn't slightly enjoy Blacksite, but it wasn't anything special (well, maybe...
Had to make fun of that comment made about thinking this game can't possibly come out on PS3, if you think it can't happen then you must be dumb enough to think the moon is made of cheese. That made me laugh so I figured I would try and pass that on. Glad to see it worked.
I want to know whose voice that was. It sounds so familiar somehow.
Hey, wouldn't it be cool if the moon were really made of cheese. Now that would be awesome. Imagine in like 50 years we would be mining cheese off the moon instead of making it from cow juice like suckers. Lol.
Oh, and Bioshock 2 is being developed. Awesome, it was (and still is) a great game. Just have to beat it with the new patch again and get that 100 point achievement. Almost there...
One thing I wish they would have done with this game is allowed for new characters to be downloaded over time. Would have been nice for both "slight advertising" of new games coming out and also just for fun. Imagine, game X starring [insert name of favorite character not in Brawl already] is coming out in the next month or so, and the WiiConnect 24 service downloads a new charater to your console automatically. Maybe you have to challenge or do something to unlock them, but there y...
That's not too bad at all. Nice price for the ram, can't beat that. Personally, I'd go with a bigger powersupply to future proof it (graphics cards keep getting hungrier and hungrier for power). And if you shop around a bit, I'm sure you could find a few of those pieces at lower prices. All in all, nice build.
Those are some of the reasons why I haven't picked up a PS3 yet. Every time they drop the price down, they cut some of the features out the system. First lots of PS2 backwards compatibility for the 80 gig version, then all PS2 compatibility and some USB ports in the 40 gig version. At least Microsoft hasn't been doing that. Then again, they don't have Xbox 1 chips inside or all that many USBs to begin with.
If Sony put the PS2 chips back in a newer model, it would make me consi...
I still really like the games on the 360 though. The PS3 has a lot of the same games, some versions better, some versions worse, some the same. It doesn't have enough exclusives, at the moment, that I want to play that would warrant the purchase. And I'm not that big of a metal gear fan either. See how it goes over the next few months, might be a few games coming out I wouldn't mind playing, like Killzone 2 and Resistance 2. And Haze and FF XIII. Then the 360 has Gears of War 2, Alan Wake, Ha...

Apparently this site says that they will retail for $299, and I'm assuming that is $$USD$$. Pricier then I thought. Might be wise to wait a few months or so for the prices to drop, unless you really need 500 gigs right now.
Well, one thing I would like to clear up about the 360 is that, yes you can use other HDDs, flash sticks etc... but the only good thing they do is let you hold music, video and pictures, and you need a PC or something to put all that onto it. Save games and downloaded content are a no go.
Sony definately made some good choices on the behalf of the consumer. They don't restrict you to buying Sony branded everything for it. That hard drive swapping is a really nice option, after ...
I would do a little bit of research before buying one of these to put in your PS3. Not all 2.5 inch drives are the same height. Width, yes, but not always height. Some manufacturers make them a little larger to accomadate more platters inside. Just check the maximum size allowed by the PS3 before buying. I don't have a PS3 so I don't know what the height limit actually is. Definately makes me and my 360 jealous, that's for sure.
If I ever buy a PS3 (which will probably be the n...
I have to say Turning Point was a half assed game. Sure, great concept and all, but really there is more to it then that: the game has to be fun. The graphics look worse then a lot of last generation games, and it plays like an older game. It's not smooth like CoD4 or something like that. It's rigged. Heck, the weapons look like they came from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which itself was a great game, but that came out in like 2000 or so. Firing the guns just doesn't feel right, hitting t...
Lesson learned: if your product is supposed to cost less, make sure it does. HD-DVD was touted as being cheaper to make discs then the blue-ray versions, yet they priced them the same. Had that been different, HD-DVD probably would have won. That was one of their biggest mistakes I think.
It shouldn't increase the price really. I don't think 60 gig hard drives cost all that much more then making a 20 gig drive right now. As technology improves, prices come down. Hell, even with the old xbox, microsoft started putting in 10 gig drives instead of the original 8 gig drives. I bet it is almost counter productive for them to be producing 20 gig drives right now. I'm sure the price difference between the two is almost negligible by now.
This is good news. Hopefully th...
I think they should really partner with Valve and Steam if they want to do any kind of distribution online. Steam is there already, it's a great program, lots of games, community services etc... Valve is even try to introduce their own version of "achievements" into their games.
That is another thing I never really got. For games that are developed on both platforms (360 and PC), why is it the over 90% of the time only the 360 version gets achievements? Lots of games ...
At least it's nice to know that us 360 owners won't be getting gimped versions of these two games when they ship. Hopefully, we will get to see XBLA filesize restrictions disappear altogether in the future. Bring on the larger capacity drives Microsoft.
