I'll be picking up Sonic Classic Collection this week. Seems odd that its not up there.
I'm liking the new look of the site alot. It fits the new approach of Sony a lot more than the all black design, which still felt like a remnant of the marketing from 2006.
They also added more vibrant reds for the PS3 section, which makes it feel more casual, and not so serious. They even got rid of the "PLAYSTATION 3" type once and for all in favor of the PlayStation 3 typeface for every section for PS3. A long overdue re-haul, but I'm glad it happened. ^_^

Why can't gameplay be the next step. That's what really matters in a game. There has been so much focus on realism and storytelling in the newer game releases that I can hardly recognize the industry I grew up in outside a few select titles and some downloadable games.
Has the industry lost what makes a game fun? There's nothing wrong with a good story; I've played my share of epic stories, but does every game have to try so hard to look like a movie, or has the advances in graphic...
Awesome, can't wait to take these games on the go. ^_^

This game is gonna rock, and no website or blog is gonna sway me otherwise.
sadly, it will be 3AM where I live when this is announced. After this, perhaps they can apply this approach to their 3D games, and all will be right in the gaming world. ^_^

I doubt it.
I don't think its fair to generalize the 2D purists as "everyone". Sure there are a lot of them, but they are also fans of the 3D adventure series, fans of Shadow, fans of the comics, and everyone in between.
That being said, I'm really excited for a new Sonic game, be it 2-D or not.
