Activison....the new EA?
Non-innovation and rehashes...plus arrogance? You decide.
Sometimes it is a risk to just copy another publisher's game though. People got tired of 'space' games last gen, WW2 this gen, and now we have way too many modern/near future warfare or armageddon shooters. They also get compared to each other. Bad Company 2 is better than Modern Warfare 2 blah blah. Now we have COD and MOH and whatever else...yawn
Thank goodness Rockstar did a Western GTA!
Yeah if you look at a lot of these games they have a similar feel or even colour/ world scheme.
That's why I was really hoping for a Timesplitters re-boot. Less dark seriousness and more fun.
Big on sequels (except Bulltestorm)...but then I guess they weren't terribly encouraged by the new IP sales they were seeing the last two years maybe?
These days it makes sense to rely on known Ips and then only have 1 or 2 new experiments. Look at Nintendo: bring back Kirby and Donkey Kong into new games...not exactly taking chances.
Yeah I love how games get trumpeted at release with best of the e3 show quotes with IGN or whoever...they don't always live up to it and too often originality isn't the criteria so we have the same games but with a new number next to them being awarded.
For sure a stuff up. Besides the disc tray and perhaps the lack of blu Ray the new 360 looks might fine!
yeah the disc tray thing was a stupid choice: must have been cost? Look at that video on the net where the guy accidentally moved the new 360 S and killed the Alan Wake disc...
There are certainly some interesting things shown this E3 but I think that in general there was too much that we knew or was the same for it to be all that exciting.
Certainly the more exciting things had nothing to do with shooters which seem to mostly look samish or are sequels.
Nintendo seems to rehash the same characters they always do in new games.
I was hoping for some different announcements, but in vain. Still, 3DS and Sorcery look...
I have to admit I've just been reading most of the impressions rather than watching the events, but can't say there was much there for me. Mind you I didn't think the other two (from what I've read of announcements) were that fantastic either.
Might be looking forward to: new 360 S, Star Wars Kinect, Codename Kingdoms, new 3DS and a couple of the games for it, Goldeneye Wii, and Move's Sorcery game. Not much else that I can think of right now from the b...
I agree....especially when the mini film can be downloaded onto PS3 or 360 already
It looks like they had stuff from before that they decided to use in another game: for example in the book there are canons used in the battle of Forli (there's a review linked in the article) plus Rome is barely in AC 2, but probably was going to be.
They just refined stuff I'd say and made a whole new game. Looks good though.
A true Assassin's Creed 3 will be in a couple years I guess.
No figurine? I know some complained about it, but I have figurines going back to the first AC and would have loved one of the new Assassins that feature...
AUS$148 is steep for a game though...
lol...you don't have a wii then...
From what I'm getting people are more impressed with it now that they are seeing third party stuff for it.
Time will tell if the PS3's Move is anything more impressive.
Hearing there's Goldeneye for Wii suddenly makes that console more exciting, so it's the software and how the interface works that is important I think. (I think I'd rather use the gamecube controller than the Wiimote on Goldeneye...)
Star Wars always gets my attention :) I can see my youngest son having the time of his life with something like that.
Does that mean we can use our USBs instead?
Did they do one when the PS3 slim came out? Just wondering.
I agree. While a price cut would have been nice, the PS3 getting rid of the backwards compatibility etc. really pissed me off, so it was nice that the 360 keeps everything (except you can't use old HDDs, old memory units, or old power bricks- why would you want to though).
I actually really like the look. Aussies don't have to wait too long either, which is good.
I know some are saying it's a cross between Wii and Alienware PCs, but just like the shiny old PS3s (I have a 40 gig I kept because I like the shiny look and touch sensitive buttons too) this one appeals to me.
Crap about the trade in prices for old consoles though! EB Games give you nothing!
Still if you don't like the new model and don...
It's sad when a country like Canada (similar population but closer to US) can produce so much more. We need to help the industry here in OZ.
