Yes, pretty much, but my takeaway is that they're going multi-plat at release instead of waiting 6 or so months, not that I think that will significantly help them, but we'll see.
Once the cherry-picked reviews are over...
I've got both the collections and Black Flag, I only really played and enjoyed Black Flag personally.
I often like to wait a week or more for "proper" or more "fair" reviews to come up, there's too much shilling by fans and journalists when a new game releases, especially if it's part of a franchise. Although I think this game could have sold well due to the brand name.
I've watched some clips, and I doubt anyone is playing this game for the writing, did they skimp on hiring/paying decent writers for this?
I'm really annoyed it's another app, why does Nintendo often do this 2 steps forward, one step back thing? It's great that we can listen to their music catalogue, but instead of using one of many music services, we get this monkey paw's deal. What if I wanted to listen to their music on PC? It's not officially on any service.
Maybe for AAA games, they put out a lot of slop this gen, but they're a few developers putting out decent games, plus, we have a horde of decent indies (just have to sift though the garbage, shovelware, and games you're not interested in). I really think the AAA developers need to look at releasing some AA games now and then instead of spending an arm and a leg creating hyper realistic games (stylised game graphics are more timeless).
Idk, is the person in question still going to be a Playstation fan by 2048? Are they going to move to another console or PC? Or just stop gaming? I got 4 years of Plus stacked up, but I don't think I'll continue renewing after that, not with the direction they're going in.
I'm getting Amoung Us vibes from it, I don't expect it to have staying power, but it might be fun for a night or two.
Ghostwire Tokyo has actually been free on EPIC before, I was actually contemplating playing it soon, great for people on PC who haven't picked it up yet though.
I feel like it's always in development, is this the same game they've been working on since the 360? Or is this a sequel/reboot/whatever?
I honestly think both Xbox and Sony are doing badly this gen, although MS has always had stupid amounts of money anyway.
You only picked out their better games though, although Mana, Rebirth and 16 didn't sell as well as expected, you didn't take the multitude of other games they released into account. Although I would argue Rebirth didn't do as well because people were unhappy with the direction of the first FF7R game.
I really don't think they know what they're doing, between their expectations and quality of output, the multitude of different strategies they've tried over the past decade and a half, lack of marketing, the NFT push... I really don't have faith in most of what Square-Enix does these days, Square-Enix needs to have a hard think about the quality of their games, streamline their production/output and have realistic expectations.
@Jingsing,
I'm actually considering cancelling my PS+ sub, I have 4 or 5 years stacked up anyway, but I don't want to auto-renew it anymore. Sony actually lost a lot of money that they could have made out of me.
I haven't noticed a significant improvement personally, also surprised the brightness bug wasn't fixed, I can live with that one though (I don't notice it after a while).
It's even scarier when you know some companies don't have very good archival methods for their old games, hence why the source code gets lost, which makes remastering old games difficult.
We really need to come up with a good standard for preserving old games that are no longer playable, even if it's just hosted on a website for people to play (I think some sites do this, and even developers have had websites like this in the past).
Honestly Ocelot07, I am so snowed under by the ridiculous amount of games, that waiting 6 months to a year after release is perfectly fine by me unless it's a game I really want to play now (and I don't have many franchises that fit into that category these days). I really don't feel as if I'm missing out by waiting, especially when the game gets most of its updates and a few price drops.
I bought it for the exclusives, I know the Switch isn't the strongest machine, nor will it match a Series X or PS5, but it has a lot of games.
