I agree with you! It still doesn’t give them a reason to not deliver quality. They kind of got too comfy gen 7 and MS slapped them with the 360 for the first 3 years. They gotta grind like they are shooting for the #1 spot still. Honestly, as a consumer, I’ve been spending less money because the games just been……..yeah.
Sony even inspired the idea further with the share play feature on ps4. They were advertising helping friends who’re stuck on a game or helping them progress through, or even helping with trophies.
Sony doing an all digital move wouldn’t be the greatest. Not only Sony just starting to put their IP’s on pc, I may as well just get a gaming pc at that rate and not worry if my console will be backwards compatible. Also I’ll be able to play Sony titles on pc making the console an extra piece of hardware taking up room. Sony be smart about this.
Software only? Well damn, could you try now for the sake of your xbox console fans? If you can’t make good software now, I don’t see you doing it later. Ya’ll prioritized buying activision instead of funding your own studios and buying talent. Good riddance.

I’ll tell ya anyway, the ps5 didn’t even get a price drop in 4 years and now they have the pro coming out at 700$ with no disc tray. Technically the ps5 OG should be 350, while the pro should be 550. Man, I mess with Nintendo heavy, but I haven’t bought a Nintendo console since the gamecube. My mom bought us the wii and we barely supported the software due to how expensive it got during those times. Nintendo hasn’t been a good budget gaming console since the gamecube.
