True. Have a bubble.
Life bars had to go. It's obsolete game design. Games are built around encounters, not whole levels - it's easier for the developer and usually more fun for the player. With life bars, you can have a situation, when you can't win a fight, because you're low on health and there's no medkits around. You have to load a save game. At best, it'll make you repeat some previous fights (even though you've already won them!). At worst, it'll make you start the whole game all over again (some games onl...
You contradict your own statement by leaving a comment here. This article does not concern you, it's not about your console of choice and yet you take time to comment. You are obviously interested, even though you wish Natal to fail. Something makes it special, because you can't comment on each and every thing you consider "overrated" and "casual" (in other words "not aimed at you"). Is it the positive press? The hands-on previews that say it actually works? Kudo...
...and that's why PSN is free.
Sorry, couldn't help myself, I actually own a PS3 and have nothing against PSN.
Don't worry, trolls will spin it.
I'm talking about libraries, framework. MS, as a software company, has excellent tools for integrating XBL and NXE features into the game. Developers don't have to code their own cross-game voice chat or user playlists - it's already there, just declare that you want to use it. I imagine Natal will receive the same treatment - all basic functionality will be included in the libraries, ready to use but also tweakable.
Which company has better development tools? I'll give you a hint - it's primarily a software company.
1. There are only two Gears of War games.
2. There are three Halo shooters so far.
3. Only one Halo FPS was released on X360 and that's about 1,5 year ago.
4. There won't be a proper Halo sequel at least till fall 2010.
5. Halo Wars and Halo 3: ODST explore different parts pf Halo universe, offer different gameplay mechanics (totally diferent in case of HW) and have different protagonists (no Master Chief).
6. Blockbuster sequels make other IPs possible. Without ...
Played it, finished it, played a lot online. It's pretty much like Call of Duty, only with worse controls. So I've sold KZ2 and went back to CoD4/5.
But how do we measure the true quality of a game? Reviews? Sales? Number of players still playing the game after a year or two? Well guess what - Halo has it all. Sure, you can inflate sales, bribe a reviewer, but can you bribe enough of them to get over 90 metascore? Can you bribe millions of players to play Halo 3 on XBL? You can say that the masses have no taste, but what makes you think YOU have a good one? Get over it - by all reasonable standards, Halo is not overrated. Nobody's forcing...
Does anyone here read more than just the title of the story?
No, it's not custom avatar drivers. FFS...
People actually want to see MORE commercials? Wha?
Day 1 for me. Best figting game ever. I used to play it for years on PC (emulated), long enough to pull a 720 with Tizoc. On a keyboard. And even hit from time to time :D
No problems here. Same for most people I know that actually have X360s and play the game.
Agreed. I'd prefer a multiplayer game instead. It could be even "free, optional, and in permanent beta stage with incredible potential" just like Home.
Well, some 1st party devs make a decent/great game every year, some make a good/great game every 3-4 years and some release a flop after a flop. You have to pay them all, because - yes - they're 1st party.
IMO regenerating health is still better than health bars/packs. I am more willing to believe in "shaking fatigue off" than magical first-aid kits that fix you up instantly when you run over them. Besides, regenerating health is more in tune with the way games are played nowadays. Shooters need to be playable in short bursts and health bars make it more difficult. I don't have time to replay a whole level, just because I mismanaged my health packs and have only 10% HP available for a...
Nintendo started most of what we call gaming, Sony gave us 3D, MS gave us console FPS and took it online.
People who played NfS: Shift alpha say it already looks way better than Prologue. It's not a race sim, it's somewhere between Forza and Grid, but closer to the latter. I guess it's worth considering.
Same here. GTFO.
