I think they just need more variety. For a games company, they seem to spend more time focused on maximizing revenue from old/existing games, rather than just making something new. Sure would love to play a mario kart that wasnt from 2014 for example.

There is a reason most games havent done directional weapon swings with a thumbstick tho. Im not saying it wont work, but it just seems like it could be super clunky in practice as the right stick is usually dedicated to handling the camera
Replacing full motion gesture controls with moving a thumbstick directionally for weapon swings may even be worse in practice.
I bought Skyward Sword after listening to the hype, and honestly was underwhelmed compared to prior Zelda games. Was a little suprised when they announced this re-release.
