Well they certainly did it with ME2. Zaeed was free DLC and was not important to the story at all.
Then you have The Arrival that's a $7 DLC. The thing is, The Arrival actually ties in to the main story. The people who didn't play Arrival wouldn't of known why Shepard was grounded in the beginning of ME3. In order to find out, you have to cough up the cash.
If they can do something like this, I don't know what they'll do with this DLC with...
Or they could of just thought, "Hey, we should come up with some DLC that really entices the fans, those with the SE's will have to fork out an extra $10.".
It doesn't matter, fans of the ME universe will want to know the story of this Prothean since the entire plot is centered around them and the reapers. Why do gamers have to pay an extra $10 to know. The charged DLC would make sense if it some side story not connected to the overall plot at all and you ge...
What does the length of the game have to do with price? It's about the experience, not how long you can finish a game. Cutting out the Prothean DLC, which is important to the ME universe and selling it for $10 more is ridiculous.
If you really want to take length into consideration then fine. I pre-ordered the Witcher 2 for $45+ on Steam and my playtime was 43 hours for my first run through. The DLC that they included later on which was Arena mode was free, now that's...
That's what's annoying me about a lot of people defending EA and Bioware to no end. They always complain that we whine because we don't want to pay premium for an "incomplete experience".
This DLC is tied to the overall main plot. For real Mass Effect fans out there, the story about the Prothean is important. If it was some unimportant squad member as DLC, then I wouldn't really care.
I was thinking of paying premium for this game, ...
And now Bioware is making C&C Generals 2. A Developer that specializes in RPG's now makes a RTS? Oh EA
That's not what he's saying, he's implying that ps3 fanboys always like to rub in the fact that Xbox titles which are console exclusive eventually come to the PS3.
He's just pointing out that the fanboys who think this way will be missing out on a game they're interested in and will be playing the waiting game.
And you guys fail to acknowledge the reality of PC hardware. Sure this game might have currently taken 3 GTX 580's which is quite expensive, but is the game out now? By the time this game comes out, you won't even need 3 GTX 580's, what would be the point? There's going to be even better hardware out there, which in turn make previous generation cards cheaper. Didn't they also say that they can still optimize it to run on less than 3 GTX 580's?
The HD ...
Yes I see what you're saying about #'s 1 and 2.
For #3, that "hypothetical" PC build happens to have a GPU that is faster than a GTX 580, putting 2 of them will be nearly equal in strength to 3 GTX 580's (the 7970 is a new card and so isn't optimized as it should yet). This is at the cost of $2000. I know that the system used to run that cost about $3000, but you're implying that we need to spend that much to get those graphics.
...
"The only thing laughable in this discussion is how badly you cherrypicked my comments, ace."
Actually what's laughable is how you word your argument. You should be more specific next time as to what high end PC you're talking about. Having a GTX 580 is considered high end and yes, there are many people who have that card.
What's also funny is that you use a $200 Xbox which doesn't even have a HDD. Sure it can still run games withou...
You're statistics are laughable, 1% top PC's? It seems you don't realize how many people actually buy high end components for their PC's. There was an article back in 2010 where 6 million people purchased AMD DX11 cards within 3 months. That's not even counting all the OTHER cards that are out there. The best part is they eventually get cheaper as do other parts. 8gb of RAM for $50? Sure!
So what if your $250 PS3 has all of those bells and whistles, it sti...

*ahem* Good score, the first was a pretty decent game.

Let me ask a question to everyone here, if BF3's SP was amazing but their MP was subpar, how would you react as opposed to vice versa? Would you feel cheated as well?
Morganfell, I strongly disagree with you here. Not for pointing out that we should have quality games, but it's the point you brought up about how we give these companies a pass when they made part of a game subpar.
First of all, DICE was trying something new with their singleplayer. They tried to make it a more intense experience than the comical type of SP we had in the Bad Company games. However, how can you expect a company that's an expert in multiplayer make the...
Hey man, I agree with you that Obama is BS. What you have to realize is that every damn candidate nowadays like to just suck up to the population, then once elected, stab them in the back. Sure Ron Paul might pull troops out of Iraq, which would be a great relief. He might also seem to be more understanding of people. However, how do you know if Ron Paul would keep his word if ever president? Every candidate seems to like making promises anyway, so what's to stop him?
I t...
Right and voting for the opposing parties would of made our world a better place and everyone would be dancing for joy around the rainbow holding hands. Wars would end, hunger abolished and everyone gets to share.
Please, as if voting for the opposing parties would all of a sudden make things better. Actions speak louder than words.
"I see the PS3 crowd is demonizing NT because DMC isn't japanese enough. The game will be fine. Just because it will be free of big haired gay looking metrosexuals doesn't mean the game can't deliver. I am glad it's going to be westernized, I might actually buy it now."
I'm not really a Japanese animation fan. However, I'm western and I like the japanese art style in DMC, I feel it's just right compared to the western version. The same ca...
Yeah sure it's 720p, but show me a game on pc, running on a 7800gtx that looks as good as Killzone 3, Uncharted 3 and God of War 3? I used to have a 7950GTX and even that had trouble running Crysis at medium settings at 1280x1024. When I upgraded to a GTX 560 Ti (obviously with new PC hardware), I was amazed by the performance leap.
I do most of my gaming on PC, but I have to say, I'm impressed with what they could dish out with the PS3 and Xbox 360 in this generation...
The comparison is pointless, some of these guys don't seem to understand writing a code for tons of video cards vs writing for one video card.
The GPU in the PS3 is apparently as powerful as the old 7800gtx, yet look at the results. Just imagine what they can do with this card.
Take this for example, the hardware in all macbooks for a certain model are the same. OSX was very well optimized for that hardware, which is why it can run very fast compared to W...
@ Crazyglues
First of all, they can't just stick in a 6970. For the consoles size, they have to make it compact to fit all the other parts and that costs more money. That's not even considering the CPU and RAM they're putting in there.
Second, the PC does not show the true power of the video cards when it comes to gaming. All PC games today have to be written to work on so many types of video cards, from the old 8800GT (or even older) to the brand...
It doesn't matter, it's still charged DLC that actually ties into the main plot. Even if Bioware stated that it was a bridge between ME2 and 3, people will still want to experience that event.
If Arrival was free and Zaeed's mission was charged, then it would of made more sense. However, it's very possible that Bioware (or EA) charged The Arrival because they know fans will buy it, which results in more money for them of course.
