^ You do realize that the only group of people you're insulting with that comment is PS3 owners, right?
I wonder how much mud will be thrown when KZ3 and Crysis2 are actually released...
... I just know I'm going to wake up one day with that thing standing right next to my bed.
Pediophobia ftw. =.="
^ C'mon dude, don't bring a gun to a knife fight.
I think the problem with most modern horror games is that they're too scripted.
When I'm playing DeadSpace, FEAR or even Amnesia, the monsters seem to be following a script.
If you hear some footsteps behind you or noise from the vents, then most likely, it is just a sound bite. You can just stand still and nothing will happen.
The monster will wait patiently until you walk to a specific location and then it'll jump out and make lots of noise.
1. Why isn't it for the PC crowd? Last time I checked, it was the fast-paced arcade shooters which were actually for PC.
2 & 3. Amusing, since BC2 was also a console port.
4. Has nothing to do with consoles getting people to buy crappy games. (Actually, it does the opposite?)
... I'll agree with the rest of yer points though.
I wanted to buy the game to have something to play during down-time (where I don't have any net connect...
All games are a waste of time.
As for its appeal. I've no idea.
It reminds me of the Civ series, where I think "Ok, I'll just do this one thing and then quit the game and do something else.", but half-way through, I think of something else to do, and then something else, and 8 hours fly by just like that.
=/
How did Descent:FreeSpace get on the list then?
Heh. Amusing comment, sir. =)
"3. nice try trolling?? PC doesnt have PSN or XBL. playing SC2 and want to send msg to someone playing MW2?? Lol. "
I found that amusing.
Goes to show how much you actually know about PC gaming.
OT: Pointless comparison is pointless. The games runs and looks well on all platforms. I don't get a kick out of knowing I'm getting a slightly better experience than someone else.
Does the Dahaka from Prince of Persia qualify too then? :D
The Witch and Flood aren't all that scary. Fast zombies are a meh (I find those bigger crab-ladden ones more scary).
Plenty of other choices though...
-Monkeys/Spiders in SystemShock2.
-Bloodsuckers (or even Snorks) in stalker.
-The Bear in Condemned.
-The Gorilla from Doom3? Well, the first time.
-Something from ResidentEvil (Dogs, Regenerators, Garradors, Windows etc.)
-Alma?
-Aliens, Predators
-Everything ...
You could mess around with the drivers or do a flat-out factory reset. Google search gives elaborate methods of tinkering with the system in safe mode.
Though, HP isn't exactly the best brand when it comes to laptops.
It might be that the card died. =/
^ I bought 50 games in a month. =/
During the christmas break, I spent around $150 on games from Steam, and according to the 'steam account calculator', my account's value increased by $680.
EDIT: Hmm, not bad. 25~50% off for most. Most of what I bought was 66-75% off.
Though, I also bought a $500 laptop (well, $600 with tax) and it can max out most games including MassEffect2.
No, decades start at 1 to 10.
The reason is because there is no year '0'. So the first decade went from 1 to 10, the next decade was from 11 to 20, and so on.
That is why, the proper decade was from 2001 to 2010.
That's how the system works.
Though upon closer inspection, the article wasn't wrong. The 2000's mentioned in the title is not the same thing as the 201th decade, and loosely speaking, a decade can mean an...
Not exactly a decade if you're going from 2000-2009... it should be from 2001-2010
Meh, not like anyone cares.
Valve is doing what? ... not allowing third party development?
O.o
Edit: Hmm, not exactly the same thing. They're allowing a developper to add it's own little suite to the developper's own game.
Humans created God.
Religious discussion time!!
No, but seriously, that's not really what the article is about.
^ It was sarcasm. Hence why the talk about ATI having 'all teh exclusives'.
=p
Though, I've usually stuck with ATI, since they usually have the upper hand when I'm shopping around (I don't care what brand is it, as long as it offers a better bang for buck).
It's a constant tug-of-war between the two and no-one really holds onto the crown for long.
nVidia seems to be reclaiming their throne this year.
You'll have a legion of fanboys praising the game because it's exclusive.
It's good free PR.
I think it's a smart move. They should take it.
... but what's could be more horrifying than watching your beloved franchise go down in flames?
Forget the tushy-wushy horror other games go for. These guy are thinking outside the box.
=/
The horror genre always confused me. Horror is a negative emotion. If a game does horror correctly, then you'll want to turn it off and never play the game ever again. Kinda hurts sales for a sequel, don'it?
It isn't entirely their mistake. It's the mistake of people that seem to equate graphics to technical progress.
Although graphics do usually improve as the dev's skill improves, there's a lot of factors that a simple screenshot or a small MP gameplay video can't show.
It remains to be seen if they tried to push boundaries in any other domain. Would be better to wait for the game's release before deciding if Crytek's words had any t...
