You described the present.
The article is about the future.
Sure the situation won't change overnight, but console gaming will probably start shifting towards digital distribution with the next-gen of consoles.
... having a tea party with Fallout, Mafia and Stalker. I'm not sure if MassEffect was on the invite list.
Cate Archer never gets the credit she deserves.
Coincidentally, most of the characters in NOLF1 never gave her any credit either. =(
... but HalfLife2 wasn't really that intensive. Source engine's scalability would've helped too.
There's a few games that could rival Crysis2's graphics on either consoles. Still, Crytek is trying to put up a visual show. Competition is always nice to push things forwards.
^ Bringing console fanboyism to a comparison between two games of the same series? O.o
The power of a brain cell for you. =)
Judging by the screens, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two games. I can only identify KZ3 due to the environment/snow. =x
^ Yea, we need more manly grey-brown army simulators.
=/
Activision, maybe.
EA seems to have a bi-polar marketer since they gave BurnoutParadise for free to UK and then made a BC2+Vietnam bundle that was more expensive than the sum of its parts. =/
How so when some digitial distributors let you pre-load the game even before the release?
Pseudo-double-post... but I just checked http://twitter.com/pcdev
"In progress for PC: Patch 1.061 (now in QA), Patch 1.07 (major patch), Mod Tools package 1.0"
Yay? =x
I doubt anyone on PC really cares.
Mod tools were sort of promised during development... I'd rather they release that... eventually.
Dedicated servers and admins? O.o
... Valve also got it right with Alyx.
... Stalker2 faces the similar questions that Battlefield3 was facing earlier; How will it handle it's console appearance.
Considering how the Stalker games have always been taxing on the system, it'd be interesting to see how they develop their new engine and how well it can scale between the platforms.
Then again, I've always slapped on a few mods with the previous games, so as long as it has SDK for PC, I'm anxious.
... How is it aimed at 13 year olds when games like Bulletstorm and DukeNukem are aiming for the older crowd that played the old-school shooters from the late 90's? O.o
Most kids nowadays want CoD and the popular stuff. I doubt it's on any kid's radar.
I'm pretty sure there are parents that have unwhittingly bought worse games (ex. Mafia2) for their children... Not that it really matters since the typical 13-year old nowadays probably knows more swear ...
I don't recall Levine relying too heavily on visual effects in his games.
I can still play SystemShock2 or Bioshock (or even Thief) and still feel the atmosphere. The world is just crafted so well that you get immersed in it without noticing the dated visuals... or well, that's what happens to me. =/
Occasionally a four-story building might collapse. I think that might be the next-gen bit.
The title for the article is so flawed. =/
Double Fine Productions -> Must buy.
I'd throw in id's tech5 into the foray too.
Though it's an odd statement to make considering that they don't have any plans to license the engine. Then again, it was only a small comment that could be being blown out of proportion.
Sven Co-op and Garry's mod can be fun too. I guess.
Calling BC2 a co-op game is a bit of a stretch though. =/
Yes, pirates are to blame when a leak happens. >.>
Here's an excerpt from the article: "The leak must have been internal and caused by one of Cryteks own staff"
i.e. Blaming 'PC gaming' for this makes no sense.
@Battleaxe
Thanks for the benefit of doubt. >.>
People who complain about DRM are people who have to deal with it (i.e. legit buyers). Consumers are also the ones who complain since they forked ...
