I first played shenmue 2 on the xbox. Brought a dreamcast just for shenmue 1.
Would buy another console just for Shenmue 3.

Windows XP, Vista, and 7 are so similar in the way they work and operate it doesn't make sense to upgrage unless forced to. Which we have been.
Same with Microsoft Office. Slight improvements that don't justify the price.

Won't we all be on the 720/PS4/Wii 2 playing with totally new control methods or standard pads again?
Somehow, i don't see Kinect having a lasting effect of core gamers lives. Look at the Wii... successful at first, the the gimmick starts to fall off as casual gamers move on to the next thing and core gamers pick up their pads once more.
Spawn and genade fest does not a good game make!

I'm not saying EDGE are better reviewers than others, i'm simply saying that when looking at review scores, take them for what they are, not for what you want them to be.
I expect to see the Wii 2 and 720 around 2012 with the PS3 following in 2014.
