People almost killed this game for me by comparing it to Gears. When that happened, I started comparing it to Gears and it became rather "cheesy" looking. I'm still interested in Vanquish, but thats only because I stopped comparing it to other games, because to be honest, the only thing similar is the 3rd person pov.

If they were following hype they would've asked for a PS3 when it came out. The PS3 got bashed during launch for good reasons. Consider those kids you're talking about as being well informed.
