Actually, Iwata rarely says things about the competition, and there has yet to be a direct quote regarding this NGP comment to be posted. In my opinion, based on how Iwata usually conducts himself, I think that he has not said what has been reported.

In fact, looking at ALL the articles, the only direct quotes provided were regarding the emergence of smartphones, and why Nintendo have chosen not to use a 3G subscription service.

What I find funny about all of this is that I have yet to see a direct quote from Iwata regarding this topic. All the articles posted about this have no problem in quoting him on the rising smartphone market: "We're at a period where it will be difficult to keep the value of our content if we are unable to offer experiences that can't be had on Smartphones", but not one single direct quote where he criticises the NGP - yet that is what everyone seems to be jumping on.

I wouldn't be surprised that this would happen, but I think it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for Nintendo by THQ.

I'm pretty sure that THQ stated that Nintendo worked really closely with them to make the drawing table, and that without Nintendo's help, it would never have came out.

For them to take that help and put it on other platforms is rather unfair.

But, that's business, eh? :P

I quite like Sony PPS (Portable PlayStation).

Obviously the PSP2 is the logical choice, but I find that PSP2 is rather long, and PPS sems to sound better than PSP2.

Just my opinion though.

Sony could always call it 'Arc', as the NGP fits in with the definition of that word - "a continuous section of a circle" (i.e. the continuation of the PlayStation 'circle'), "something that is curved or that appears curved i...

I would actually have said that the whole Friend Code system is a more adult method than a kiddy one. There aren't many kids who could get used to the system Nintendo implemented on the Wii or DS, whereas, it is much easier for younger people to just pick names on XBL or PSN.

The system was more aimed at adults/parents who were more used to using numbers instead of names. Part of Nintendo's 'protect the kids' vision I guess. No wonder it never really took o...

In a way, I'm glad that they didn't add 3D, as it would no doubt bring the 'copying from Nintendo' arguments again - after all they 'stole' the touchscreen idea from them!

Plus, it also means that each system has unique features that separate them from each other. With the 3DS I'll get 3D on the go, and with the NGP, I'll get high quality graphics.

I prefer it when consoles (handhelds or home) have different features that make...

Actually, one of my Xbox friends' gamertags IS like that - I just changed a couple of things so he couldn't be identified. But by all means, go onto Xbox live, look up my gamertag (DigitalEdgeX81) and look at my friends list - you'll see that there are quite a few that aren't all that straightforward - plus you will see the tag that I refer to.

And your point about friend codes being random numbers is a valid one - I never said they weren't, but so are ph...

It's not really that different from a number - I don't get what the big deal is. The majority of the time, the name you want isn't available, so you have to have something else, or get creative, which can be quite confusing when you are giving your tag out to people, or for some people to type in.

This is no different from giving someone your phone number - and nobody complains because you don't get to choose that.

No need to ask who they are - you put their name in and identify them through that.

Personally, I find it easier to remember 30 of my friend's phone numbers than I do remembering their gamertags.

Some gamertags can be really hard to remember, especially when people get 'creative' with their name, and in cases where you have to put it in exactly in case you end up adding the wrong person.

A 12 digit number (that can never be change...

Is it just me that doesn't really have a problem with Friend Codes? Sure they were a pain in the a** on the Wii and DS, having to put in different codes for different games, but I actually find a number easier to remember than some people's gamertags. Isn't it easier to put something like 1234-5678-9012 into a system than trying to type in xxS36a5t1aNx1985xx ? Sometimes I have problems remembering where some people put certain characters in their gamertags - plus some people do...

Sony won 2 console gens - not EVERY. You do know that consoles were around before Sony, don't you?

I wouldn't play a handheld game on my TV - I'd rather play my home console on it - that's the point isn't it?

But still, that doesn't mean that there is any point in having an HD handheld screen. Sure, the processor/GPU may be capable of displaying HD when connected to the TV, but in terms of playing on a small screen, there is no real justification in having an HD screen, other than to inflate the cost. I don't see the reason that Sony would put an ...

Is there any point in having such a small screen displaying a 720p picture? I'm pretty sure that on a screen of that size, the eyes wouldn't be able to notice much difference.

I'm not too sure about the comments about a 3DSLite, or 3DSi etc.

If you look at the original DS, it was quite large and a little uncomfortable. The DS Lite simply reduced the size and increased battery life. The DSi added new features, so it wasn't simply a new version of the same console, because there were things you couldn't do on the DS/DSLite.

Looking at the size difference between the 3DS and the DSi, the 3DS is SMALLER than the DSi (134 ...

Isn't that a bit pre-emptive since nothing has been confirmed about the PSP2, and no games have been announced? I will wait until it is announced and we can see exactly what it can do before I make a decision on the PSP2.

So far, all we have is rumour and conjecture with the PSP2, but with the 3DS, the system has been announced, the games have been announced, and it is close to coming out, and for me as a gamer, it's these kinds of things that influence my decision w...

Personally, I don't really care what the overall resolution is going to be. The main thing for me is the games. As long as the PSP2 can attract a steady stream of top quality games, then I'll be happy.

HD resolution doesn't really matter that much on a small screen - I kind of wish that Sony would realise that simply beefing up the technology isn't the only solution. There is are several reasons that the DS was so successful, and huge graphical processing p...

It really is a great game. I downloaded it early through World of Keflings (along with the fantastic ilomilo) and I've been addicted to it.

At this point in time, I'm finding it very difficult to get the time to play retail releases, because all my time is spent with World of Keflings, Raskulls and ilomilo, which are all extremely worthwhile and time-eating games.

The original DS actually worked quite well with FPS games and it didn't have analogue, just the touch screen.

With the analogue slider on the 3DS combined with the touch screen, I think that it will work quite well.
