I doesn't bode well that Ubisoft have cut their sales projections for the game in half - they will undoubteldy mean that there is less advertising for the game.

While Red Steel 1 had iis issues (mainly with the swordfighting), the multiplayer aspect of the game was a lot of fun, and added quite a bit of life into the game.

I'm not happy at the decision taken by Ubisoft to remove multiplayer from the sequel. If there was anything I was looking forward to, it was mult...

The only mistakes Nintendo made were to get rid or (or reduce) their 3rd party quality control system. This is what opened the Wii up for so much shovelware. Although I can see why Nintendo did this, as they needed to be more 3rd party friendly, and I'm quite sure that they did not foresee the huge wave of crap coming their way. In saying that, the shovelware seems to be dying down now, as it doesn't really sell that well anymore.

How can you say that Nintendo didn't cater to ...

It's an automatically translated article. The original is in French, so it's obvious that it won't be grammatically perfect.

@above:

I can read articles. But the original article is comparing NA only figures to the newly announced US and Canada combined figures.

In saying that, it's still a huge achievement for Sony to have such a remarkable increase over previous years, especially when the competition has posted declining figures.

I merely pointed out that, according to Sony themselves, the 440,000 was NOT for NA alone, but for the US and Canada.

Actually, Sony has confirmed that this figure was NOT for NA, but for US and Canada:

"Sony's message to the media disclosed the 440,000-unit sales figure but inexplicably didn't say where the sales took place -- which led many bloggers and reporters to assume, incorrectly, that the company was referring to U.S. sales, because that's how video-game statistics are most often reported.

In fact, the number was for PS3 unit sales in North America, both the U.S. and Cana...

The number quoted by Sony DOES include the figures for Canada as well, as opposed to the previous year figures in the article that were NA only. It won't make a huge difference to the overall figures, but just thought that everyone should know that the recent figure is NOT for NA only, but for US and Canada.

You know, if even half the folk commenting on here about how great it will be on the HD consoles actually bought into games like this on the Wii, there wouldn't be an issue with the lack of 'mature' games on the system.

It's funny really, reading this. If you're all hardcore gamers, and love Suda, why then did his first Wii game sell more with an install base of 50million than his PS2 game, with an install base of 140million?

Suda's games are usually great games, and do deserve great sales, but they are niche titles. Having his first Wii game sell more than his PS2 game (Killer7 if anyone didn't know) may actually be more down to the control style than the art style (considering the style is v...

Last.fm is not just available to the US. In case you didn't know, it was a British company that created it!! I'm in the UK and I signed up for Last.fm ages ago, and can now stream it through my 360.

He's got a point to be honest. For Sony and MS to introduce motion control to their consoles, then surely the developers should be at the stage where they can easily surpass Wii Sports. but why hasn't it been done?

If developers can't emulate (or beat) the success Nintendo has with their games, how does that bode for the competition's motion control?

Actually, I've counted about 40 non nintendo games that have sold over 1 million and 20 nintendo ones.

And I'm not bringing up sales for the sake of it - the 'journalist' in the article did state that 3rd parties don't sell on the Wii, yet they have twice the number of million sellers compared to Nintendo.

What you have to bear in mind is that 3rd party devs generally DON't put any effort into Wii games, and one of the areas most lacking is in the advertising. For Madworld, I only saw a handful of ads, and they were really late at night. I've never seen an ad for The Conduit, nor Dead Space Extraction etc etc.

If devs don't advertise their games, then how are people going to know about them?

That being said, according to Iwata at his recent financial briefing, by Sep...

Does nobody bother to read the article, or does everyone want to just jump on the Wii bashing bandwagon?

The article clearly states that it takes the less frequent usage of the Wii into account when it compiled its results.

From my own experience, my PS3 has been repaired 3 times so far, my 360 just once and the Wii has had no problems at all. And for information, my 360 gets the most usage, followed by the Wii and then the PS3.

Sky ARE known for their 12 month subscriptions, but that's based on them supplying you with the satellite equipment free of charge, as they subsidise the cost of the equipment.

However, on the 360, they don't need to supply any equipment, so a monthly subscription is feasible.

I don't honestly know why people are saying that newcomers to MS' next generation would be put off by people with a huge gamerscore carried over.

After all, there are many people buying 360s now that are starting with nothing, and that doesn't seem to put them off, does it?

The score is really just there to show a gamers dedication to their games and to their console. MS would be foolish NOT to carry it over, but to say that it would put off newcomers to the console...

I have to say that all the competition did not throw their cards on the table. Yes, Sony leaked a few things out, but kept most of their show under wraps, and Nintendo didn't reveal anything at all until E3.

From the article:
"For us, generations start when new experiences hit the market and not when we try to sell you a new console. When we launch Natal, the content, fun, and creative work that people will get to interact with--I think for those people that will be the next-generation. Other companies might define it differently, but for me it's about people doing things in a new way--things that they've never done before, and I see that with Natal."

Does that mean t...

It would be good to make animated themes.

@Parapraxis

I think that you will actually find, having spoken to the owner of HighDefGeek, that the image you refer to is a royalty free one that the site owner bought a while back. He PAID for it (10 years ago actually) to be used commercially however he saw fit. Yes he didn't create it, just like he couldn't have created the more adult wallpapers, but your source didn't create it either.

High Def Geek will be updating the themes weekly, and it would be a good place to post if you have some artwork of your own that you want to show off.
