I was just going to say that exact same thing.

In the whole interview, of which this quote only forms a very small part, Miyamoto doesn't say that Sony copied Nintendo at all. In actual fact, he states that it worries him when things like motion control are simply added for the sake of it. He goes on to say that he hopes that everything that Nintendo brings to the industry becomes the industry standard. That's hardly him moaning about companies copying Nintendo - h...

Making something more accessible does NOT make it easier necessarily. Besides he said he was trying to make the controls simpler and more accessible - NOT the game.

That video doesn't prove ANYTHING about the Move being in development. All it does is show a more accurate method of tracking for the PS2 Eyetoy using a ball on a stick that the camera can pick up easily.

The whole Move concept is much more than that. Yes, it uses the ball tracking and camera combo that they had been testing, but it also uses accelorometers, gyroscopes and a lot more in the controller. That's a CONTROLLER that Move uses and not the STICK that you s...

You do realise that is just a tracking method they were playing about with. A ball on a stick - nothing more. No accelerometers, gyroscopes or anything. Just a way of having the camera track something.

So they were testing something like that in 2004. What do you think Nintendo were doing 2 years before the Wii was released, and a year before they revealed anything? Waiting for Sony to come up with something they could copy? Then why didn't they copy it?

Wow. Just wow. I can't believe so many fanboys are jumping on this. Miyamoto rarely says anything derogatory about competitors, and I found nothing derogatory in this statement. And as for arrogant? This is nowhere near the level of arrogance displayed by Sony this gen.

He's not saying that Nintendo created motion controls, as the actual question presented to him mentioned other things. he was saying that wnever Nintendo DOES create something, which is then copi...

So is this the start of the Wii shovelware flood on PS3? Do PS3 owners want a 20-in-1 game collection, or do they want more of the kind of blockbuster titles the PS3 has been geting lately?

My guess is the second option!

Hardcore is an option on Wii - it's always been an option on Nintendo consoles.

The problem that Nintendo created for themselves (and that Sony are in danger of creating) is their lineup of 'Wii xxxx' games like Wii Music, Wii Sports etc, which creates a dangerous precedent for 3rd parties to follow suit with their own (generally inferior) versions that flood the market and take focus off the really good games.

With Sony's lineup there (being ...

If it's really true that Sony want to use the Move for primarily hardcore games, then why is it just SOCOM 4 and RE that have been announced?

So far, for the early launch window, what has been announced is Move Party, TV Superstars, The Shoot, Sports Champions, EyePet, Brunswick Bowling and Motion Fighters - all by Sony (except Brunswick).

Sony are in real danger of letting what happened to Nintendo happen to them - if you don't want casual shovelware...

Yet more disagrees with the cowards refusing to give a reason to it!! The only conclusion I can draw from that is that they HAVE NO reason, or are unable to enter into an intelligent debate when some very valid points are raised.

Wouldn't it be rather refreshing if, instead of people clicking the 'Disagree' button and leaving it at that, people actually commented as to why they disagree with you? lol.

I'd like to know why people disagree with what I've said. I'm not knocking the Move, OR the Wii, I'm just saying that because I already own a Wii, I would think that it would be better if developers gave us something a bit more unique to Sony's system.

Ye...

Is this proof that PS3 fans can't handle the fact that the Wii does have some REALLY good games available? lol

In all seriousness, these games are best left to the Wii. Madworld (while good) was too short and repetitive, and I don't think that even a PS3 fan would appreciate having to pay full price for a game like that. Three of those games are pretty much just on-rails shooters, and if I remember rightly, PS3 fans mocked them when they were announced or released, ...

That's actually the problem. When developers try to copy the Mario success formula, they invariably miss bits of it that make them so great, and you need all the parts to make the formula work.

Very few developers have even come close to emulating the fun and addictive gameplay of Mario games, so if a similar game did come to the PS3 (or the 360), what it would be missing is the skill of Nintendo's developers when it comes to creating fun and addictive gaming experie...

Why did someone disagree with me? The Linux logo IS on my original PS3 box!!! Is someone seriously disputing that? Sony DID advertise it as a feature - it may not have been a selling point, but it was a feature they advertised, printed and then removed. It's a fact, so why I got a disagree is beyond me.

Regardless of Gamestop taking preorders for it, Nintendo have NOT announced their holiday release schedule yet, so Gamestop might be wrong. All we DO know is that it's coming out, but we don't know for certain WHEN that will be.

According to Sony's website, the sub controller has no mention of an accelerometer.

What about the cost implications of having to buy 2 Move controllers to play a game, as opposed to a cheaper alternative of 1 Move and 1 Sub Controller (similar to 1 Wii Remote and 1 Nunchuck)?

Didn't we see the contents of this article when the Wii came out? Have we not already seen a definitive FPS motion control scheme? Have we not been dreaming of a lightsaber game since the Wii was announced (although we do already have two lightsaber games, but not with 1:1 motion control).

A better article would have been about what Move can do differently from the Wii controller. You can't start an article by saying how Move will be better than the Wii Remote, and...

I'm wondering how many people read the article?

It doesn't say that Nintendo would charge for online.

Here's what the quote said:
"Probably the other thing that we are desperate to realize is the core [online] business structure," Miyamoto said. "Do we need to demand customers pay monthly fees to enjoy online activities? Or give an online subscription that is free of charge, but then offer something extra for people that pay...

If Nintendo HAD gone down the HD road with the Wii, they would be in 3rd place. It's pretty much a sad fact. Looking at the GC, which more technically more superior to the PS2 (and almost on par with the Xbox), it's clear to see that Nintendo had to do something different than just competing technically.

Nintendo needed to do something that would let them launch at a low price, have something that the HD twins didn't (motion control), in order to try to achieve ...
