Nobody should be surprised, Microsoft has had terrible leadership since towards the end of the 360 generation.
There are way too many games available on playstation that appeal to a wide variety of taste from 1st and 3rd party to be complaining about a lack of variety. I generally find arguments that opine for a return to the past to be misguided and unconvincing.
Microsoft, the only publisher that produces fewer games the more gaming studios they acquire. Lol

There is no "damage control" because there is no data available on total consoles sold this generation by Microsoft.
@Cuziz, please provide me proof from Microsoft that they are selling more consoles this generation than last. In fact provide me the total numbers of consoles sold by Microsoft this generation or last. I'll wait...
@darth, you have no proof of what Microsoft sales numbers are because they don't give them out. Sony gives out console sales number but the current totals are unknown as the last report is outdated. After Sony's next earnings report we will know the number of consoles sold, you will continue to have no official data on consoles sold from Microsoft becuase they have not given them this generation. V-charts should be banned here.
So many don't review games objectively, and their reviews have become an extension of the console wars or an attempt to generate clicks.
It is laughable how the media has gone out of its way to trash this game anyway they can. If it's not specious claims against the story( like compared to what? I understand the entire plot perfectly fine, the glitches ( so overblown) or for not conforming to the game design of elden ring , it's just one phony complaint after another. I fully expect God of War Ragnarok to be treated just the same.

It's not a matter of will to compete, it's about need. What incentive does Nintendo/Sony have to copy Xbox. There are shareholders who they have to answer to as to why they would give up a profitable business model, to what lose money indefinitely? Microsoft came up with gamepass not out innovation but desperation becuase xbox gamers by and large stopped buying games.

Excellent game and expansion pack from a talented developer. Housemarque was an wise purchase by Sony becuase they add a quality developer to an already stellar group of developers same with Bungie.
Games cost money to make full stop. Pay now or pay later but you will pay one way or another. "The best deal in gaming" is a mirage, Microsoft knows this that's why they never give the raw data when it comes to game pass in terms of profitability. They'll give you percentages without context but never the actual numbers. Only companies wishing to lie and spread false information do that. It's hard to sell the fantasy when people can look at your numbers.
