@Traecy, Sony was never truly in a position to decide to let Microsoft have Activision. It was always going to be the regulators who made that decision, Sony never had direct say they can only raise their concerns. If regulators let this one sail through then it will be the standard going forward, so Sony will have to adjust and start making big purchases themselves, something they've largely been loathed to do.
@Necrosis Yep, it ain't fun when the rabbit gets the gun.
@Madlad, no reason to sell? Sure. Lol. Sony will do what is necessary to survive and thrive including buying Capcom. If they do, the can pull all if it's games off xbox just like Microsoft is doing with Bethesda and there would be zero argument against them doing so.
@Bandar don't be ridiculous this not a matter for debate. Playstation sells the most 3rd party games, western, Japanese, Asian, of the big 3 by far. It's only gotten worse with the introduction of gamepass.
It's a silly change of position on the part of the cma, a 3 trillion dollar company willing to spend 70 billion on a single publisher can make "the math" work after pulling cod off of its biggest competitor get real. Whatever the case, this is the new reality Sony better be prepared for. Not to make a cod competitor, but to buy a publisher, an important one as a nuclear deterrent.
Price will come down, and I can confirm GT7vr is amazing. I've become a gt player again after several years of not playing racing games.
What does vr have to do with developing a portable device. There is always this desperate attempt to define Sony as a failure despite their continued success. VR has been out a whole month and a few weeks and already it's time for Sony to wrap it up. (Based on Forbes own lousy reporting).
@purple, what do you mean "Sony always relied on 3rd party "? Don't the others have 3rd party games comprise most of the games on their system? Sony is a platform holder not a 3rd party publisher. They create the platform for which 3rd parties develop their games on.
Do not take anything from this hack from Japan Bloomberg. He makes up numbers, stock issues etc all the time, seems to have this weird axe to grind with Sony. We will get official numbers from Sony in their quarterly reports.
I think Sony's hand is being forced, regulators seem to think that only until Microsoft has a mathematical reason to foreclose it can be assumed they won't. A nuclear deterent is what's need.
@OG Their own government is capable of assessing the purchase on the merits and it has determined that it won't substantially reduce competition in its jurisdiction. Did you think they would lie just to support Sony? I think this transaction should have been blocked because it encourages mega-corporations to consolidate even more which won't be good for anybody. If this is the world regulators want then so be it. There is likely acquisitions coming done the pike that those cheering on...
@Obscure, people want to see gameplay cutscene animations no longer cut it even if it blended well with "character on rails" segments, it's what everyone waits for when watching a trailer, you know combat etc. Spiderman 2 had a great trailer some time ago but people are expecting correctly to see actual gameplay the next time we see it. Why is NT hiding this game after that great cgi/cutscene trailer in 2019?
@obscure that looks great but it more of a cutscene than actual gameplay where you have 100% control of the character. They need to show actual extended gameplay sequences.
@faces, you xbox fans should just settle for actual releases of any games. Lol. Having to make games for the series s to will tie xbox to last gen indefinitely. Lol
Show a slice of actual gameplay please.
@Smells, I just voted you down twice for that comment. Lol
@Bathyj At least they're for once being closer to honest. I'm much more sick of the "we're here to save the gamer" propaganda they've been spinning.
@Mcardle, imI'not going to do your research for you. The thrust of the document is that Microsoft is proposing a behavioral remedy that involves a funded third party to address the cma concerns regarding Sony. The document itself is quite hostile to the cma's provisional findings and largely side steps the cma issue with foreclosure.
Nope those are Microsofts comments not the cma, those are their arguments.
@JayRyu, Don't be ridiculous, the CMA was always going to be involved it's a requirement of the agreement between Activision and Microsoft. Regulatory approval is necessary with these types of transactions whether or not Sony has involvement.
