@Charmers, yes I am a gamer, the only difference is I don't use steam ;)
And whilst what you do is great, it's something I would do if I used steam, the majority of people would not think to do this. Most people who install games click "next" "next" "next" until the game/program is installed, these people would never think to back up things or put important files on another drive.
And as for having 60 games at hand at the...
"If anything happens to my PC and it needs a format I can get all 60 of those games up and running again within half an hour without having to reinstall all 60 games from their respective dvd's."
Exactly how fast is your internet connection? You do realize that if you formatted your hard drive you would have to download all 60 of the games and install them again. You say you can manage this feat within half an hour!? I call BS on that, unless you have 60 games t...
I've been in the closed beta from the start, whilst the game has improved over time it has limited appeal. The "grind" to level up is absolutely terrible, if you hate grinding in your typical MMORPG then you're going to begin to hate this game after a while.
It's fun to pick up and have a few races, but when you're doing the same races over and over and over just to unlock another 1 or 2 tracks (and eventually cars) it's nauseating. Police chases...
Wow, this list sucks. You can't have a "Top 10 PC Games EVER!!" with the games they listed in the article when much better games exist, such as -
Doom, System Shock, Diablo, WoW, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex (to name but a few).
There are an insane amount of games that would be considered for a top 10 ever way before half the games in this article.
Like we believe that, that's like saying the PS3 is only designed to complement the XBox 360 ... yeah total BS.
Seriously, how would OnLive "complement" consoles? Surely any system that allows you to play games is designed (and viewed) as direct competition.
Onlive is a bad idea and a trap for those who fall for it. To prove my point .... you buy games for it (at the same price as a physical copy) and you must pay a monthly subscription fee too, stop paying your subscription fees and all those games you paid for can no longer be played!! How many of you can seriously say that that is fair and "the future" of gaming? Quite simply it isn't.
In the UK the drinking age is 18 ;)
What I find funny is, as someone mentioned in one of the gazillion other articles relating to the new 360, is people (notably PS3 fanboys) complained and ridiculed the 360 for it's lack of Wi-Fi, it's size, it's overheating problems etc .. Then M$ change things, they add Wi-Fi, they address (hopefully) the over-heating issues, they make changes in areas that people complained about. And what happens? Now the PS3 fanboys don't have half their arguments on "why the PS3 is ...
Given the current climate of "make every new game for consoles", it comes as no surprise they chose to make the game an FPS and not a Turn Based Strategy (TBS). There are a few genres that don't work well on a console, one of them is TBS and thus X-Com had to be changed to a different genre that would work. It's sad really.
It would have been nice to see the drums redesigned a little, perhaps move the red drum (which I assume represents the snare) so that it is under the Yellow & Blue drums ... you know, more like a real drum set.
So let me get this straight, you disagree with me because I said Sony is not the only player in the 3D market and that Sony becoming "top of the market" does not equate to people loving 3D gaming given that fact?
Please don't reply, the rest of your "rant" explains it clearly, you are a Sony fanboy. I'm a Sony "fan", but I'm not blind to the fact that other companies do exist who may (or may not) do things better than they do.
I agree with wolfam1, the article is so poor. It's basically a Sony fanboy writing all about Sony.
I don't think Sony are the only company making 3D games and I doubt only Sony makes the good games out there. Sony has the best technology? Hmmm, honestly I can't say either way on that. Right now the PS3 is "technically" better, but by the time 3D gaming really takes off and the next generation of consoles is out to fully take advantage of 3D gaming ... we...
The thing is nobody uses that subtitle when talking about the game, everyone just refers to it as Halo. Only magazines, wanting to be 100% accurate, bother with it.
And there you have a problem, you say you don't collect games, just beat them and trade them in. With DD you can kiss that idea goodbye, so that "I get pretty decent credit on the game I'm trading in" sounds quite funny LOL
And that is the problem. Games don't necessarily do bad on the PC, they do fairly well in fact. The problem is they released the game for a console first and then ported it over to the PC. So there we now have 2 issues -
1) - It came out on a console first, if you bought it on a console would you really buy it again for the PC? Chances are very few (if any) would, thus the sales of the PC version aren't as high as they could/should be.
2) - They fric...
I see a different side to the article. What it told me is in the Philippines piracy is insanely high, so games companies decided to try to fight it by releasing games in the Philippines for a fraction of the cost of other countries.
Sounds great, but what I then think (and this is tongue-in-cheek humor so don't get irate) we should pirate MORE, let's copy more games. In time the games companies will do what they did in the Philippines and we'll finally see lower p...
What I find amusing is the comments where so called "good parents" are allowing their young kids to play Mature rated games, it's ok because they are right there with them keeping an eye on them. That doesn't wash with me, it's akin to saying you let then watch something like the Saw movies or Porn ... but it's ok because you're right there with them.
Simple fact, regardless of what you got away with when you were young, games have ratings for a ...
If anyone actually believes screen resolution doesn't matter here's something you need to do. Get on your PC (or a friends if you don't have one) and load up a game (preferably something fairly recent). Now set the resolution to the max the monitor will support and play for a while... now drop the resolution the absolute minimum and play. Hell you don't even need to play to notice there is a HUGE difference between the two resolutions.
Yes I know the article i...
LOL I love this article, Epic blamed piracy just the other day for why they are focusing more on consoles. Apparently there's not much money to be made on PCs because of piracy ... so what happened? If numerous devs are contemplating a shift back to PCs what happened? Did the piracy just go away, or did they finally realize their argument was total BS and (piracy or not) the PC can be very profitable.
You have me on that point Charmers, I do have to put the DVD/CD into the drive and wait a second or two for the drive to detect it before I can play my game of choice. I personally don't find this to be too inconvenient, I don't mind the few seconds delay between me wanting to play a game and getting to play it. I guess years and years of doing this has made it a "normal" thing that I barely notice now.
As for the rest of what you said, it's perfectly va...
