Sadly companies have been doing this for years, to varying degrees.

Anyone out there buy Final Fantasy XIV? That's a prime example of an incomplete game being sold at retail! Yes the patches that are supposed to add the missing content should be free, but when you're paying $15 a month for what amounts to a beta then you know you;re being screwed. Sticking to the MMO genre, Age of Conan is another example of a broken, incomplete game being sold as a complete game. I ...

I think the article needs to be renamed "MY 7 best FPS games ever"

But really, at the end of the day lists like this are subjective and it all centers around the word "best". If the guy is judging the games on the way he perceives them, game play, graphics and all that, then you can't say he's wrong ... it's just his personal list (that he felt compelled to share with the world). It's like someone saying they love the color red, but hate th...

When I saw the title of the article I wasn't going to read it since we have PC gaming is dying articles twice a week, 3 on a bad news week. But I took a look and was surprised by the content, even though some of what the guy said is a little off the main point is that PC gaming is being perceived as "making a come back". It didn't go anywhere in the first place, but hey certain people believe it did.

Anyway the article just proves what we've been saying ...

I had to jump in here. This is one of the usual retorts regarding PC gaming... "you need to upgrade all the time to play new games" or some such rhetoric. But here's the deal, the latest games DO NOT require newer graphics cards (or other upgrades) at all, anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to sell you something or is (to put it very nicely) "misinformed".

Perfect example of why this is true and I'm not just spouting BS like too many ...

I recently downloaded and played the trial version and agree with Steve30x, I don't feel the game is worthy of the high subscription fees. It's sad to see most MMOs follow the "industry standard" fees ($15 per month), what could help them is if the reduced it to something more acceptable.

But then again it brings me to something that really bothers me about ST:O. They charge you $15 a month AND then they have paid DLC too!! IMO you can't have it both way...

It's people like you that have brought us to where we are today. When DLC first arrived we (the true gamers) refused to go that route knowing what it would lead to. But the world is full of idiots who don't have a clue and buy into the marketing ... and thus buy the DLC. Fast forward to today and look where we are, we knew it would happen, but for every person like myself who refuses to buy any DLC period there are dozens more who are dumb enough to buy it.

Just wait ...

It's sad to see so much hate for something which is a huge success ... but then again I suppose therein lies the problem. Everything that becomes huge and successful inevitably must be hated by everyone but those with a vested interest in it.

Wow is the biggest gaming success EVER, and is THE only game the churns out patches and content updates on a regular basis ... all FREE of charge. All that on top of expansion packs which add even more content to the game. Yes it may...

@Leonesaurus

I was lucky/unlucky (you choose) to have extensively played this game through beta testing and I can thoroughly say the game deserves all the low review scores it is getting. Everything negative that's being said about the game is spot on. Yes there are good points, but they are few and overshadowed by the bad. Being in the beta you see what goes on behind the scenes and I can tell you there are HUGE threads listing problems/bugs with this game, from minor th...

"dude.. how is it relevant that u have 1TB Hard drive
if the games keep coming in an 8gb DVD? "

Because that 8GB DVD contains compressed data, the data is uncompressed as it installs to the hard drive. Thus one 8GB DVD can uncompress to many times that amount of data (Dragon Age - Origins comes out at around 15GB). The relevance of a 1TB HD, well I was being sarcastic showing that the amount of space on the media where your game is sto...

Very well said. Few people have said it so well, but you're right.

The PC is superior to all the consoles in every way possible, except for one, that one happens to be the most important of them all and it's GAMES. Yes the PC has tons of games, but the consoles are the ones that are getting some of the real good franchises these days.

And no I'm not a console fanboy, I game more on my PC than my consoles, I prefer to play the games I play on my PC...

Sorry, ok, I think I've stopped laughing. Were you serious? You do know that consoles stream the data off of the discs right? So the PS3 having blu-ray means more data blah blah blah. The PC doesn't need to steam data from the media it uses since it's all installed onto the hard drive. So "pc games dont have blu ray" is totally silly and saying

"blu ray keeps being the reason why ps3 will have the best games"

OK, before we get any more dumbass responses, people understand this one fact,

Blizz is suing for the creating of hacks/cheats for the MUILTIPLAYER aspect of SC2 ... do you understand that? There are built in cheats for the single player campaign (TerribleTerribleDamage anyone?) So there are no need for other hacks/cheats to be created. Do a bit of research and you'll find it confirmed that the people being sued are being sued for making cheating possible in the MULTIPLAY...

For all of you saying RTSs don't have to be dumbed down for consoles because of the controllers, because consoles can/do support KBM, well sadly the games DO have to be dumbed down to support controllers. Here's why ...

Hands up all those who own a KBM for their PS3 or XBox 360 ... anyone? ... no?

There you go. Nobody owns a KBM for their console thus developers must either make the game work on a controller (the game then has to be dumbed down, espec...

I'm disappointed with LP, have all their CDs, been to many live shows ... but this last CD is utter crap. Half the tracks, if I had heard them at random without knowing the artist, I would have never guessed LP were the ones responsible for them ... especially the one track (can't remember the name) that seems to try to fit cuss words inbetween every other word. Call it evolution, call it change of direction, call it whatever you want, I call it crap ... next CD I'm downloading fi...

I think what writersblock meant to say was, anybody reading this article would probably know the "tips" given already. Hell, to me, those "tips" are very basic ground level stuff. Kind of the first things you learn right after learning how to push to power button to turn your computer on!

I too was expecting some good tips.

5717d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes they do, but pushers of a digital only future would have you believe they are not required anymore. I'll echo many of the points people have mentioned already as reasons why optical drives in PCs are not dying out (you know like PC gaming is not dying out despite the monthly articles that say otherwise). See what I did there.

1) - Older games, I have tons of games, all of them on CD or DVD. The only way I can install them on my computer is by using the disc. Yes I cou...

"The simple fact is Sony and MS are on record saying they want to sell their systems for 10 years. It does not matter what you think because they run the business that we call gaming"

I don't think that means what you think it means LOL You do realise the PS2 is still on sale right? even though the PS3 has been released. When a company says they want to sell their systems for 10 years it doesn't mean for 10 years and THEN after 10 year...

I am not surprised that they got rid of the monthly subscription fees at all. It's not some calculated move on their part, it's simply the fact that people aren't signing up to a service where your purchased games are held to ransom forcing you to pay a monthly fee or have your games (that you paid full retail price for) taken away!

This move may garner some new interest from people wanting to take a look at it to see what it's all about, now that it's fre...

Really? Seriously? You really think that (on the LEGAL WoW servers) you can hit max level in 1 day? Seriously? I'm not saying it's impossible, but there are very few people in the world who could (or would even want to) do that. For the rest of us it takes a lot of time, took me 3 months and I was rushing like crazy through it.
