Seems like this could make the rigors of life in a war-torn world seem a bit more manageable.
You were, as I'm the author of the piece. :D
But I agree with you one hundred percent regarding how it is implemented making the difference. And while it worked great in P3 and P4, Persona 1, 2 and Innocent Sin had strong MCs who were showcased through solid writing in their respective titles. It's definitely not a one size fits all approach, and it absolutely varies from game to game.
The main issue with Xenoblade X is it feels like the game would ha...
I think a lot of that can be traced back to how it seems most of the supporting cast was constructed using the same middling character creation tool that player's use for the MC. They simply look awkward and unnatural, lacking the care that was given to the characters in Monolith Soft's previous effort.
My complaints aren't about voice acting at all, but the lack of writing for the character when compared to the previous game's protagonist.
I agree for the most part. I guess I just feel like that small piece in the puzzle has a lot of trouble fitting throughout the game, as your major contributions tend to be a mile-long stare and a subtle nod of the head.
I DO enjoy the game for what it gets right, though. And the world is immense and beautiful. I guess I just wish it expanded on the original's narrative strengths while taking advantage of the Wii U's added horsepower.
Ah well, there's always next time.
I agree with you on all of your points, though, like I said in my piece, it's hard to get over the hump that the silent MC brings, especially when you go in expecting more of what was offered in the predecessor. So in that regard it kind of has ruined the game for me, to an extent, as it makes it very hard to muster up the drive to continue, as I care very little about the MC.
Has it prevented you from caring about the story at all? It's been an absolute roadblock for me.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, your character ends up coming across as a completely peripheral protagonist.
Still need to check it this one out.
What a shame. Inwas looking forward to Siege, too.
Haha! I KNEW this piece would get a rise out of you. ;) Maybe one day Sega will deliver the goods, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yessir. I still haven't recovered from the disappointment that was Shining Force Neo over a decade ago.
Yes, yes you do!
I was thinking the same thing. I've seen much, much worse from other studios.
As a huge fan of the series I'd love to get my grubby mitts on this console.
Yeah, it certainly does. There seem to be plenty of weapons, too.
Solid list!
Seriously. That ending was brutal cliffhanger.
Baddies be warned: He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake.
