They have no choice. This is so sad.

You mean you want GTA '09, '10,'11,'12. No more 2K sports and a complete cookie cutter business mentality.

The analyst have said since before the PS3 launched that it would take over soon. They said it just needed big exclusives and when it got them nothing much happened. The said Prologue would make a difference. They said GTA IV would be the one to really sell some systems, it didn't. Now MGS 4 is coming out and we have to see if there is a major boost from that. It won't make the difference Sony needs right now, it just proves that analyst suck and don't know what they are talking about. By the...

Square is probably getting money from MS for timed exclusives. The 360 is easier to program for so they can get these games out the door faster and cheaper. FFXIII will cost them 100 million to develop with a production cycle this long, so why not get money from somewhere else. You get the "timed" money and the money from the game sells. But, for FFXIII to remain a PS3 exclusive it has to sell at least 3 million copies. But, I don't think that will be a problem. If it doesn't and SO...

If that's the case they get more like 600 million. But I wouldn't call it free money. They have to pay for all of the equipment and it's upkeep. They also have to pay for some of the content. They have to continue supporting online play for games that have been dropped by other companies when the user base drops.I'm sure they still make money, but they have to spend a lot for what they offer.

athlon770 Did you actually read those articles. 4 machines is nothing compared to what DVD has in the field now. Blu-Ray is not growing, it's market is shrinking. And I bet some of those machines were bought with Sony payoff money. But please read the first link again. A Sony Spokesperson says that they have sold 3.3 million disc as of March '08. How much clearer does it have to be. Manufacturers are lowering prices because sells are slow. Do you see any price cuts on the Wii. People can disa...

They supported HD just to hold Sony back. And it worked extremely well. Sony's games division lost over a billion again.

Blu-Ray sells have remained stagnant.

I never expected Blu-Ray or HD DVD to succeed. HD DVD is gone and Blu-Ray will never be more than a niche item. The sells say it all. Most of the 3.3 million of the Blu-Rays sold can be accounted for if you check 10 or 12 websites forums. Everybody has 50-60 disc. The general public bought the other 12 disc. The movies are over priced and they don't look all that different on those low end models that the average consumer is buying anyway. I've seen Blu-Ray on a cheap television and on a qual...

A Sony Spokesperson says they have only sold 3.3 million disc a month ago is old. Look at that date again. And here's another one for you that talks about how badly the sells dropped after January. DVD is fine, it may be declining, but it's still selling very well. Blu-Ray on the other hand is not doing well at all.

Blu_ray is failing. Period.

Not the whole caveman thing, but the need for more storage. Having a series on one disc is the way to go. Or the entire trilogy of a movie with all of the extras. From every standpoint. Environmentally, physical space and convenience. We need more space. Or harddrives.

It took the US so long to get HD in the first place because stations refused to pay the extra cost. They have always believed the public didn't want it and can't tell the difference anyway. They were forced to make the move by the government. The cost for ultra so soon after the switch would have them rioting in the streets. In DC the news ststions still use DVI and sometimes Beta even though Solid State and DVD cameras have been offered for years.

The differences are in the physical disc. HD is pretty much a DVD. The blue laser has a shorter wave length and that allows the added capacity.

@LenHart... What assets are you speaking of. They sold just about everything they owned to keep from going under from all the blu-Ray and PS3 loses. Fools like you are the ones who lost money in Bear and every other scam the stock market runs. Sony is struggling. They had to scrape together money to join Samsung in the new LCD fabrication plant, they sold off most of their buildings over the last two years when the PS3 and Blu-ray didn't sell. They sold stock in their financial operations, wh...

@ThatCanadianguy420

Not sure what the list you're using is, but Microsoft is a far more valuable company than Sony. Microsoft is on pace to have a 24 billion dollar profit this year. Four times Sony's profit. Microsoft has over 20 billion dollars in the bank and no debt, Sony has a couple of billion on hand but also has 100's of millions in debt. Microsoft had over 40 billion on hand a couple of years ago until they decided to give it to shareholders.

While I know for a fact the media is a lot about hype(I worked at a TV station for over 3 years, SHARK ATTACH!!!), just look at the comment section of gaming sites. People hate before they think. It's the way fanboys work. Whether it's console fanboys or political party fanboys, people are too stupid to realize the lies just make more people lie. But even sadder, some of them actually believe they're right. 38% of the US believes Iraq had something to do with 9/11. The US is in serious troubl...

This is a totally new format. These disc will not work on a current Blu-Ray player, that includes the PS3. Blu-Ray disc will work on their player, they being Call/Recall and Nichia. This is for the player they will build. MGS 5 will be on a Blu-Ray. Thank you drewdrakes for reading the article. Thank you TheExodus for reading and recalling other sources and knowing Blu-Ray's limits. If anything, this is potential trouble for Sony. And the 800 pound gorilla in the room can read also, and it do...

By only gaining on the 360 120,000 a month, Sony won't catch the 360 until sometime in the year 2012. Mayan PS3 fanboys are going to be pissed.
