I think the reason so many people believe this was true is because it kinda sounds like something MS might pull.
I Bungie left because Microsoft likes to micro-manage. They wanted all Halo, all the time. Bungie wanted to do other things. You can't really blame either. Bungie got bored, MS was making a ton of money.
I own all three Halos. I loved the first. One of my favorite games ever. @ was not as good. 3 was average. When they release the next one, I'll wait to try it first. I won't spend money until I see what it 's like.
There is no reason to believe the 360 version will delay the release of the PS3 version. If it were the other way around it would make sense. But porting to the 360 does not take nearly as long as porting to the PS3. The 360 processor does not have to have everything in a specific order like the Cell so it doesn't take as long no matter what engine you're talking about. Stop applying the shortcoming of the Cell to the Xenon. They both have their advantages, flexibility is not one of the Cell'...
Yeah those might be good titles. We'll all find out in another year or two. Well LBP might be out a little sooner. LBP is also the only thing new. The others are just sequels. How many button combinations can GOW have anyway?
GTA was just one game delayed because of the Cell. There are plenty of others. Alone in the Dark was released by Atari despite the PS3 delays. If more companies did that, every game would be a 360 timed exclusive.
What kind of darkpower is worried about paragraphs.
@Solid Snake
Unreal Tournament was not just a straight port. It added split screen and new content. Again, the 360 has general purpose cores, they are far more flexible than the cores in the Cell. Look at all the porting issues, they occur when porting to the PS3. Like you said, they got Crystal Tools reworked for other consoles. Are you forgetting that Microsoft is one of the best companies in the world at compressing au...
I actually am looking forward to the other two parts even more. With all of the problems I am really excited to see what they will be able to do next time when everything is more stable.
His reasoning is wrong on every point. Lets say the PS3 version is not done. It will release in Japan first. During that time it will be on sale in Japan, they will be working on the 360 version. How long does it take to port a video game from one system to another. It depends on the system. He mentions the problems doing ports so far. But all of the problems have been porting to the PS3, not the 360. I have not heard of one problem when the port is being made for the 360. Every quote from a ...
Everyone I know that's played the Too Human demo liked it. The controls and camera take a little getting used to, but you get used to them pretty fast. And the take on the story is actual very nice. If a person from a technologically advanced future went back in time to 1,000 BC, the people probably would think of them as Gods.
@Green Lay off Chromehounds. I played that game online for months.
Never worry about other peoples comments. Always find out as much as you can on your own. Otherwise you can never be sure if you actually know anything. Even reading bs will at least give you something to reference with you have to call someone on their bs. Bs artist like Bruce usually contradict themselves a few months or so later.
bubbles!
Some of his points are true. The Cell was expensive to make and is hard to program for. Every tech article I've seen says the 360 graphics chip is more powerful. Blu-ray was expensive and the shortage of blue-diodes delayed the PS3. Blu-ray and the Cell are the reason for the 4 billion in loses in the games division. Sony and Microsoft are trying to follow Nintendo, they didn't misread the market, they just didn't go after the new market as much as Nintendo did. Sony is broke as hell, they ha...
@ Killa
But the point of my post was that developing games is serious business. You can be the best singer in the world, but if no one will pay to see your shows, you won't last in the business. Sony spent a lot of money on those games and the sells didn't give them a return on their money. That's the danger of in-house developing. If you are the platform holder, it's far safer to look at what will be good and pay a little extra for the exclusive rights to those . I bet Apple cou...
Microsoft gave Bungie their freedom and let most of their in-house devs go for a reason. Money spent in-house can be used to buy third party from anyone that shows a game with promise. Sony has made many 1st and 2nd party games that were complete waste of money. read: Motorstorm, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank. All games that cost millions to make and had low sells. All ended up as bundle giveaways quickly. MS learned from the Rare mistake and went in a different direction. Sony is i...
@ Rogimusprime
Sony has faltering 3rd party support. A lot of devs won't do PS3 exclusives because it is too risky. You spend too much money and need too high a number of sells to break even. The 360 is a better option for 3rd parties because of the difference in development time and cost. PS3 has lost a lot of 3rd party support period. Google it and it is clearly the case. Coming out first has nothing to do with it. Gamers seem to think developing games is a game too. There is h...
@Jamie Foxx
MS stopped showing games 2-3 years out last year at E3 and started concentrating on games coming out that year. When Alan Wake was shown, it was still multi-platform. Splinter Cell was supposed to be out last year. Rumor is the game is being totally re-done. You have not seen either since the policy change. Killzone has been shown every year since 2005 and still isn't out MGS 4 was shown this year, three months after it release. Now that's just sad. But on topic, DOMI...
Saying a company is a good publisher is totally different from being a good developer. EA sucks as a developer. Anybody with money and the infrastructure can be a good publisher. Good developing takes talent, and the willingness to pay people properly. EA doesn't seem to have that in them. It is strictly about the money. But, something else is bothering me about this whole thing right now. Two articles about EA on the same day? Looks like a certain company is trying to get a little PR spin go...
I think you're 49% short on the estimate. EA actually sucks as a company. I have bought 1 EA title in the last 7 years, and I got that used. EA openly admits to having only 35 people on the dev team for Madden. Considering the game has had technical issues every year, and happens to sell millions of copies each year, they would make more effort to see that it works better. Some of their other sports titles are the same way. They pass the previous Madden engine over to NCAA the next year to sa...
Mark Rein was all over the place when it came to Unreal. I actually believe the 360 version was developed earlier than he sometimes claims. But, it did start on the PS3 first. And if they were finished at the same time, it means the 360 version was done much faster. The game was originally a PS3 exclusive. Also, stop ignoring the fact that many games are delayed because of issues with the PS3, not the 360. Fatal Inertia was a PS3 exclusive for months, they started developing it for the 360, t...
