Wouldn't that be asking people to spend over a $1000 to get a console. If I remember right, that's a big part of what got Sony into the mess they're in now. Also, if you think Sony can't compete with Intel, what makes you think they can continue to compete with Microsoft. Microsoft's profit are a little higher than Intel's. A little.

@CP The Cell has realistic lighting, so real it blinds you when you crash in Prologue so you can't see all the damage.

@Reason Stop laughing. You're just blinded by the light.

@Runner Put down those scissors before someone gets hurt. Just because the Cell doesn't have fat bandwidth so you can see how great it is is no reason to criticize it.

You guys leave the Cell alone...leave it alone, leave it alone! It's trying to bring something beautiful into your...

looking at the release schedule from Gamestop, the 360 has 34 exclusives and the PS3 has 9 for the rest of the year.

That does sound familiar. It sounds like what Sony is doing right now. Bad hardware choices and design decisions that are biting them in the ass. People don't want to work on the Cell and Blu-ray caused the price to be so high, the PS3 got delayed because of Blu-ray, price caused the PS3 to have slow sells and is costing the company billions.

@Figboy How many does Sony have that will produce a game this year and/or produced something that has actually made a profit in the last ...

I meant 10,000,000. But, it doesn't change the fact that Blu-ray isn't selling more combined than the average blockbuster DVD release.

Now if only the player could actually control one of those. Postedup that game has to be good.

LOL. I can't believe it. You really are Jamie Foxx.

Sony can have all the in-house studios they want. The problem is, they are investing a lot of money, but aren't getting it back in sells. Most of the games they have made in-house with the exception of Resistance and Uncharted, have not made over a million in sells on their own. They needed to be bundled with the PS3 to make that mark and that doesn't count. Giving them away as incentive to buy a console that is losing money any...

When the Xbox came out, the PS2 was entrenched. The PS3 won't be. The Xbox will come out on the same level as Sony. If they get a two or three year head start, that might be too much for Sony. I believe Microsoft's musing about a less powerful hub is more about have a server doing the hardest work. I saw an article some time ago about Sony and Microsoft working on such systems for release in the next ten years or so. As far as breaking even, Microsoft stated from the very beginning that they ...

Early announcements are. Companies should stop announcing games two years in advance. They should announce them the year they are to be released. The have GDC, E3, TGS, PAX and a few other stages to announce things. They should wait for one of those events. If they want to kept their names on peoples minds, they should do small games for XBLA and PSN. Companies should be able to afford small teams for projects like that and it would provide them with a team to develop talent. Plus it would he...

because companies and financial institutions go to such great lengths to keep the public in the dark about how they wort. While lots of companies report loses on a regular basis, Those are companies with multiple divisions. While EA has multiple developers under the EA name, the report comes from those in total. Microsoft reported loses in the Home and Entertainment division for years, But with the software division making 15-18 billion every year it didn't matter as much as it would to some ...

EA goes by the buy anything that moves philosophy. It seems to be biting them in the a**. All of the money they are spending to buy companies instead of developing talent in-house is costing them big time. Either you treat your employees right or you screw yourself. EA might be treating their employees better now, they seem to be making an effort to make better games. But, what they didn't learn from the mistakes of others is that you don't screw people over for years, ruin your reputation an...

Have you guys really thought about the numbers you were given. 200 million of a 25-30 billion business is not tracking at 8%. 8% would be well over a billion dollars. At twenty dollars each that would be 10 million disc. And a lot of the disc are selling for much more than that so you know we're talking about much less than 10 million. Any major release on DVD sells more than 5 million disc by itself. And up 300% when we know from the NPD that sells were way down after February doesn't mean B...

The studios are not going to back a losing format for too long. And even Sony is hedging it's bet on Blu-ray by offering downloadable HD movies.

It's amazing how easy it is to get people to believe total nonsense. Blu-ray is less than 2% of the market. How does that make it a new standard, necessary or even remotely close to a success. How many 360 games have needed more than 1 disc for the game? 1 or 2? Wow, if only the 360 had Blu-ray. If it did, you could make ten hour games that take up a fifty gb disc. Do you people always allow themselves to be talked into stuff. Blu-ray is not selling and is not needed for games. Not in it's pr...

By the time God of War comes out, most people still won't have HD. And I don't believe Blu-ray will ever become the standard. Even Sony sells movie though downloads now, I think they're hedging their bet. But I don't understand why people would want them to cut 1 of the only two profitable things in the division. You take away the PS2 and all you have left is the PSP, and it's no software mover. If they did that this year, Sony would see a lose in the 2 billion range again. Right now it will ...

If Microsoft wants to make up for pulling the Halo announcement with an event for fans(and Bungie), I think it would be a step in the right direction. They could actually have the Bungie game, Halo Wars and some gameplay from the Peter Jackson game. Let Bungie show the films they made for E3 and maybe make another Landfall type live action film. Provide some free stuff for people to win an MS foots the bill for everything.

Way to go on the FTC stuff. Most people don't look at things from those types of angles. But, the FTC doesn't really care about Vista, 'cause nobodies really buying it.
