The site appears to be American, but states this is the second 360 price cut this year. It's not. Microsoft is making money on the 360 so I don't understand how he believes the price cut will cause them to lose money. The Home and Entertainment division made money last year. And I believe the 360 was one of the only profitable product in that group. Microsoft signed new deals with several of the manufacturers that produce parts for the 360 this year. They also had a die shrink on the GPU. The...
Betamax is Sony's best known failure. But, Betamax is still used in the US by media professionals. Believe it or not, a lot of TV stations and freelance journalist still use a ton of Beta tapes every year. It outlasted VHS by a long time.
Japan started the process to move to "Super" HD several years ago.
Besides that it's still around.
Every company should drop everything that doesn't immediately take over it respective market. It didn't make it as a movie format, try gaming. Blu-ray hasn't made it either, maybe Sony should just quit too.
My bad.
@Pixel_Addict
I think Bladestar is on to something. I don't need or want Blu-Ray...talk about paying through the nose. I already have a network adapter, I didn't need to pay for another. I wanted the console for games.
Microsoft never said downloadable content is the focus of the 360, they said DL was the future. The 360 has never had a mandatory install and I have never heard anything about Rage having one. You're confusing your consoles.

The things that you need for the PS3 are just that. Things you actually need. The things for the Xbox are things that some might want. You make the choice.
they are too short-sighted. If I was Microsoft, do I help the competition by using their format or do I buy or license a cheaper equal format for my system. The idea that games will need 200 gigs is crazy. Even Blu-ray will have less need of less space as the speed of the players goes up. No games in this or the next generation will need more than a hundred gigs and the ones that do will be RPG Blu-ray disc. First, because RPGs are big and second because Blu-ray drives are slow. The notion th...
Nintendo is definitely making a $100 on each one sold.
I can't believe that is a real article. If it is, the internet needs more restrictions. If the majority of the comments here are based on peoples honest opinions, then that's just as sad. I generally believe in things being more open. But, there seems to be a lot of stupid people in these forums and writing articles.

Think "what would a dog need with a history book.

But nobody but Sony is going to spend the time and money to make that evident on exclusive titles. Killzone has been in development for almost four years. By the time it releases, the next generation will be a year or two out. Companies will not put that kind of money and effort in on something that could possibly fail. Having a system that is easier to develop for makes more sense. It's cheaper and it's better to be able to make several games over the course of 5 years, than one.
He was kinda busy teaching himself rocketry and building a lunar lander for use by NASA. So he hasn't had as much time for gaming. He also has a kid now and anyone who has one knows what that entails. But on topic, I don't see this as a problem. There are very few games that need more than one DVD. That will start to change in the next few years, but for now DVD is fine. MS will wave the extra fees so that won't be a issue. By the time this become a real problem in 2011, where more titles wil...
This is Madness.
THIS....IS.....EA!
My point is that EA is just putting out the same game over and over. They would be better off just charging ten bucks for roster updates and DLC. If you're willing to pay for the same thing over and over, that's your business. And if people don't speak up, they'll keep putting out junk. There is no way a game that sells so many copies should have a dev team of 35 people unless the company doesn't care. They know there are fools who will buy it anyway. @k was actually trying to make football g...
The Russians always believed in raw power in their fighters. But whenever Migs and Eagles fought in real battles, the Eagles won easy. It's also why most women never get sexually fulfilled. It's just better to have the ability to move around.
You're wrong about Carmack wanting things simple. The reason people haven't really used his game engine on the level of a Unreal is because he didn't make tool kits to simplify things. He said in an interview that if people wanted to use the engine fine, but it worked for him. He was more interested in making his games, not selling the Doom engine. The guy taught himself how to build rockets. The company he heads was the only company given funds by NASA to continue developing a lunar lander. ...
Sony is counting PS3s in those numbers and pretending it's movie players being sold. If Blu-ray was doing so well, then why were Sony's numbers so off in their electronics division. Bravia TVs seem to be selling well. I'm surprised this announcement wasn't made through a CGI video. Just recently Sony said that Blu-ray movies accounted for 200 million in sells. How the hell is that 9% of the market. By the way, they said 8% just a week ago. Sony is full of it. They figure if they keep lying pe...
At least 3 or 4 years from now, when both formats are gone, you will have at least gotten the HD DVDs cheaply.
Add a physics system. All of the tackles look the same as they have for years. The way running backs sidestep has been the same animation for over 5 years. Have runners actually plant their foot and cut instead of the hop. Stop doing silly stuff like truck-stick and hit-stick. Have more than 35 employees working on the game. Maybe you could fix the issues. Stop ripping off 2K. Make attributes actually mean something. When someone makes a mistake, they pay for it. Don't give the corner the spe...
Anybody who agrees with him is a complete idiot. You are completely uninformed if you agree with this moron. The person who linked this story and people who approved this story are idiots. The RSX processor in the PS3 is a modified off the shelf product, but the Cell is new. The graphics card in the 360 is a completely new type of architecture with unified pipelines. It was the first to use the architecture and I believe is still the only one to use it. The chip design itself is owned by Micr...
