Sony has not built a framework for DRM and forced it onto every game on their platform, Microsoft has.
So what Microsoft is really saying is "Publishers can choose to use our standard, platform-wide DRM infrastructure if they want to."
What Sony is saying is "Each publisher is free to build its own DRM, mechanism if its wants to."
Sony has said that there will be no online registation requirements. Sony has said that the ...
This $#!^ can't be redeemed. I don't care what game they show. They could show a game with full interactive, holographic fantasy and I would not touch it. As long as they stick to this DRM stuff.
I don't care if Microsoft shows a real-life Sword Art Online. I'm not buying a console that won't let me do what I want with the games I purchase.
It may be required for the game.
Good one, but if you grew up on the Power Rangers aren't you around 30 years old by now?
Couldn't tell much from the trailer buy more games can't hurt.
Folks, this is just not possible without an internet connection, which the PS4 does not require, AND online registration, which the PS4 does not require.
All this wishful thinking on behalf of Microsoft is understandable, but not accurate.
Microsoft really mis-judged the market by this much. Sony did not make the same mistake.
Personally, I think Microsoft got misled because they were able to get away with charging people to play online ...
Indeed. Gamers need the Xbox One to be killed. Gaming Stores need the Xbox One to be killed. Everyone besides Microsoft would be better of if the Xbox One is killed off. The point has to be made that this kind of DRM will not prosper.
Microsoft should bite the bullet and push the Xbone back until they can properly fix all of these issues. If the Xbone treats games like this, as is expected, and the PS4 treats games the same way that the PS4 did, as is expected, then th...
This is a trap. Gamestop wants to be the first stop that people make when they try to find out about the new Xbox One. Once the people come to Gamestop for information about the new Xbox One, GameStop will proceed to sell them a PS4.
There is no way in hell GameStop is going to cut their own throat by guiding customer into the Xbox One trap. If the PS4 and Xbone are roughly 50/50 in terms of market share then Microsoft can flip a switch and kill their business at any tim...
I saw that. It just tells me that they were truly caught off guard by peoples reaction to their DRM. It also tells me that Phil Harrison was telling the informed truth.
It is also noticing that they will only allow games to be transferred once. So Gamestop still wouldn't be able to trade in used Xbone games because the used copies would not be transferable once the customer bought them. Also one has to wonder how the used game store is going to know whether a game has...
They are not doing it like the PS4. The Xbone will have online registration, and that changes everything. The PS4 will handle games like the PSA3 does it. The Xbone will have DRM that can turn off off your games or start to charge fees at anytime.
Right on all but one. You don't have to turn it on, because it's always on. And always it is listening.
Loaning and games will not be available at launch. WTF!
So when will it be available, Microsoft? I know. I know. When you want it to.
If this is all they have, they may as well charge fees. The only people who are buying the Xbone are people who are willing to pay them. The other 85% of the people, not so much.
Probably a check from Microsoft happened to them.
I gave you a disagree because of your last paragraph.
"Maybe they have come to terms with fact that their PR reps are bunch of brain-dead retards, and that they would be better not speaking to the press. Seems to be working for Sony."
That is wishful thinking. PR reps are professionals at communicating corporate messages to the public. Assuming that all of them were inept at the exact same time is not reasonable. The problems is the message, n...
That is exactly what it is.
Microsoft's problem is that the people will reject the truth about the system. They have been running around saying that they have not been communicating their approach to used games and DRM well. That is not correct; they have communicated their approach to used games and DRM perfectly. The people just rejected it, so Microsoft is choosing not to talk about it again.
At this point I will take credit for calling it. Microsoft doesn't want to tell E3 that there will indeed be used games fees and other DRM. They don't want to tell us this at E3 because the vast majority of the gaming world will be watching and listening. Doing that will risk killing their console before it launches. Microsoft wants to cloud the issue so that they can trap the loyal Xbox fans in to the Xbone before they learn the truth.
And so the influx of Kinect games begin.
What's wrong with a port? The PS4 is supposedly designed to make it easier to port games from PC to it right. Don't most all developers build their games on PC's and then port them over to the console of choice? Why not put it on PS3 & PS4.
@gaffyh
No game is big enough to overwhelm all this DRM bad news, not even COD. There are wayyy to many military shooters for COD to pull someone into a console as bad the Xbone.
