Depends on your definition of great fps. Personally i like deeper fps's like Deus Ex and they're my "cream of the crop". But i'll usually roll with something that tries something different like Portal or Mirrors Edge. Nothing wrong with a standard shootfest once in a blue moon though.
Why can't someone you know, give good scans to the review so i can read it myself. Besides this really isn't all that surprising. Edge are notorious for lowballing most games score wise. A edge 7 or 8 is everyone else's 9 or 10. They have only given out 10 perfect "10 scores" over their 16 years of existence.
Uncharted 2 and GoW3 is at a tie for my most anticipated exclusive. Heavy Rain isn't that far behind them as well.
It's Gaia... Wait someone already said that. But damn this cover art looks awesome. I think i'll actually have to go and pick this one up when i go to buy Killzone 2.
If you like games with color and pushing art style you should check out Prince of Persia.
I love Uncharted. But please hold off on some of this talk. We haven't even seen gameplay footage for ourselves yet.
Great to hear. I'm glad it's already sold more than Snake Eater, hopefully it can go on to sell more than Sons of Liberty.
Mmmm exactly what i was expecting. TF2 meets CoD4 with Killzone2 style to blend them together. Can't wait.
I'm one of the few people that does not like Half-Life 2. I've made it known many of times. It's just uninspiring and boring to me. At least up until the last hour which was pretty good. But it was too little to late by then. I'm not big on fps's at all but if it was one game that made me crack and even give more fps's a try it would be Deus Ex.
Now i know some people wouldn't put Deus Ex (or system shock) in the same category as the more traditional HL/Doom/MoH/CoD/Halo categor...
They were college studio's that Valve hired on the spot when they seen their senior project. So yeah Valve did make Portal in a way. Some of the idea's like the idea's behind portals platforming/puzzle wasn't from valve after they hired the college kids. But it's still very much their game since they work for them. I don't personally like Half-Life or L4D but i do love Portal and TF2. Valve is kind of hit and miss with me.
I've seen vids of Gears 1 and i played through Uncharted. The two look nothing alike. Besides the same perspective and the fact they both use a cover system you can't say they are in any way alike. I've played tomb raider games and i'll tell you straight up, they aren't like Uncharted. The combat is bad, environments aren't that hot and the platforming is very hit and miss.
People need to give up these silly comparisons. I mean you don't see people regularly saying Gears of War a...
No. Please for the love of good do not compare Uncharted to Gears. One is a 3rd person shooter and the other is an action adventure title. Why can't they both just be good games?
His Sessler Soapboxes are all usually pretty good. I didn't like him at first, too cheesy. But i listened to some things he said and now i like him.
Thanks for the opinions. I think i'll pick up Army of Two soon. It's kind of one of those forgotten games that has come and gone.
Yes the time trial and speedruns are very fun and addictive. Mirrors Edge is a different type of game. Like in the same vein as Portal. It's not about online multiplayer, it's about a completely different experience. The whole idea of Mirrors Edge was to bring something fresh. I think guns was just heavy handidly put into the game at the end. Because if you play the game it's obviously not about fighting. I just think the higher ups wouldn't allow such a game to go without some sort of weapon...
I have Mirrors Edge along with about 7 other new IP's from this gen. Half of my current collection is new IP's. I try to buy new IP's that interest me as much as possible.
Though the word "innovative" gets thrown around too much.
Edit: Which reminds me, who here has Army of Two? How was it?
Yeah alot of people don't know you can do the same thing for Vista. Just takes a little getting used to going to the control panel.
I can definitely see how it could be implemented much better than multiplayer. Specially since the game is largely based around the story and characters. Multiplayer just doesn't sound like a right mesh. Now co op on the other hand i can definitely see working. Think about two people doing the platforming segments and both working to solve puzzles. That i can see working much better.
*Laughs my ass off* "Wife of the bad guy" i have to give you bubbles for that one.
I agree with some things he mentions, like the grammatical errors and such. I think the writing could definitely be better and look more professional. BUT and here's a big but alot of upstart gaming sites has hit this gen. A bunch of them all trying to get their fair share of viewers as Hiphopgamer.com. To just call out that one particular site is not fair in my opinion. Specially when in my opinion everybody and their grandmother are gaming "journalist" this gen or "analyst&qu...
