I'm all for improving the story -- I just hope that it's not the pretentious cheese-fest that was GoW 2's story. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't buy the emotions of those burly space marines.
I whole heartedly agree with the single player aspect. It's simply too janky of a story, and too quick of an experience to gain any sort of enjoyment out of it. I'm largely a single player gamer, so why should we get shafted, because we don't want to deal with the scrub-cakes online?
I like the review. It's a shame I'll never be able to play it. I have never cared for the upkeep of a PC, thus I have always stuck to consoles. I do sometimes feel a tinge of jealousy, because this is an entire segment of games that I'll never get my hands on. *shame*
Brilliant article. I really dug it.
It's a shame they couldn't capitalize on a winning formula like Monster Hunter's.
It's funny how subjective reviews are hindered on the objectivity of a star, number or letter rating. A star rating merely indicates the impact it had on the reviewer. In this case, this game left a large impact on me. Be it the story or the combat, something about this game connected with me. I know others have hated it, but I loved it -- so much so that I'm importing the Japan-only collector's box for thirteen Alexander Hamiltons when I have a free copy in my lap and I don't...
I think this is a great move on Sony's part. The reason the PC thrived for so long was because of UGC (user generated content). I think with the PSN being as open as it is, it could lead to the longevity that they were talking about when they said that they wanted to make the PS3 future-proof. It's a quality that's sorely lacking on X Box Live despite their touting of UGC back in 2004 and 05 before the launch of the 360. Good on them!
At least it isn't something cosmetic or stupid like horse armor or jester clothes. Those seem more tacked on than this, but it's a shame Severed is so brief. Hopefully Visceral keeps supporting it.
I think it's definitely worthwhile to have content like this in video game trailers. If the medium is ever going to be considered legitimate, then publishers need to continue pushing the envelope.
If given some time, this game could show promise. I like the implementation of the scoring system and the leader boards. The demo makes the game seem a little repetitive, but it's hard to tell for sure. I had a lot of fun with what little was given. I can usually tell a game will be fun when I run through the demo multiple times, but that's just my own litmus test.
I think the only Director who could do a video game justice as a movie would be Guillermo Del Toro. But, I also though Silent Hill was pretty decent despite some flawed dialog.
The ending of MGS4 was out of place, and really forced. Everyone's story lines basically worked out because Kojima wanted them to. Urgh.. Such a disappointment. I love how the story spends about 10 hours setting up a terrible tragedy for Snake and Raiden. Nope, Kojima just had to pander, didn't he?
I would love to get this game, but I don't know if I'd have the time for it right now. I'd have to wait until there's a definite "lull" in the video game season so that I can give this my full attention.
Yeah, the cheap games are my toilet/commute gaming fix. I could never give them the time to sit down and play thoroughly, but I enjoy them for the small bit of joy they provide. I will never grow tired of AAA titles or full retail games. There's a time and place for everything.
I was fortunate to attend the SCOTUS hearing between the ESA and California, and the insight I got from the event was that even the judges knew that their own staff members were once subjected to violent video games. Justice Kagan shed some light on that fact during the rebuttal of the California lawyer. Those in attendance had a hearty laugh over her statement, and the lawyer didn't have much to say in light of the statement.
Anyway, I think the game is splendid. I love...
That's pretty hilarious having to deal with the inconsistency of the language content. I think it's appropriate though. Since video games and music are both expressive art forms, then the censorship should be all but completely lifted.
Not to be confused with Demons Souls (kidding), but this game looks good. I like the idea of having a pet to level alongside with.
Ach, this was supposed to be in reply to femshep.
I think some healthy competition goes a long way I think the squabbling between the companies is a little over-the-top, but they haven't skimped in terms of quality. The motion controls for both the Kinect and Move are impressive to say the least.
I would almost contend that the most 'authentic' way to play the game would be with an arcade stick. But, I digress. I had a conversation with a friend of mine the other day about this game, and it's really only going to appeal to western gamers. The Asian markets are all about Tekken.
However, there is a bright-side to this since Mortal Kombat will be featured at the EVO 2011 tournament.
