I think historically XBox hasn't done well in Japan, and with even Wii U and PS4 struggling there now, there is little to no hope for XB1. The other Asian countries it hasn't released in are a bit of a different story. None of those countries (except South Korea) are very well known for gaming, but the XB1 will be somewhat competitive. I don't see being the top console in any of them, but it will sell. (Speaking of which, MS needs to get the rights to put 감은 사막 on consoles......
Games bring in more money than console sales, having the top selling game should never be considered a fail. Not many people thought that it would remove the entire gap between consoles, but it certainly did help. This opinion piece it just fanboy garbage.

Yes, if you can afford it there is no reason not to get it. It's been worth every penny, just like my PS4 and even Wii U...although I admit my XB1 has been doing all my heavy lifting.

Hopefully none of these titles are aimed at a Japan-only release. If even PS4 and Nintendo are struggling in Japan, then it looks like console gaming is dead there, and MS have historically had a much tougher time in Japan.
Nice, well done MS. Growth is always a great thing, and it's good to see that the XB1 is doing very well financially as well. The more profitable it is for them, the more they will be willing to invest in it.
Abriael makes a good point above, it wasn't MS making official price cuts as of yet, that was retailers competing with each other for business. And if it was due to an inability to move consoles...they would not have shipped-in 1.2 mil more consoles.

Well either way, apparently they are at the point in development where they feel that the framerate is more important that the resolution on ANY system. Combine that with the fact that the developer themselves saying that your own TV will make more difference in the end that the versions between XB1 and PS4, and your statement at the end of your rant is already null and void about why you put last gen in brackets together.

Nice, but gaming in Japan seems to have dropped off. Even the PS4 didnt do exceptionally well and MS hasn't really every been extremely successful there. For MS's sake, hopefully they can turn it around.
