Crysis 2 had better visuals and that was a multiplatform release. R3 visuals are better than those in R2 but the Resistance franchise has never really set new standards.
Health packs were good but there were too damned many of them. Almost like having unlimitted health.
For me I preferred Crysis 2.
Wow, R3 was laden with jaggies. What size screen were you playing on?
I found single player far too easy and generic. It got better towards the end only to be let down with an anti climatic battle. I mean, what was up with the gun that suddenly received unlimitted ammo!?!
The download and install is managed through origin. All you have to do is select the beta, agree to the t&c and wait. Every step of the way it did things correctly except when trying to run the game when it said I needed to reinstall.
So, keep your problem between k/board and chair comments to yourself.
As for the pre-order...like hell. I wanted try before I buy but the PS3 version looked gastly and I'm not wasting any more time with the PC versio...
F**k EA and F**k Origin (NZ). I followed their instructions and downloaded and installed the 4GB demo only to launch it and it tell me I have to reinstall. So I did...and it kicks the 4GB download off again.
I'm simply not going to bother with this game at all now. The PS3 version looks like $hit and I can't even run the PC beta because of a broken install process.
Its my time and money they have to convince me to part with...they will get neither ...
To fix it they only need to introduce squad team balancing. Sick of teams where everyone snipes.
Damn it. The more footage I see of the PC version the more distance there is between me and my PS3. Clocked up over 200 hours on BC2 on PS3...but the average BF3 visuals on PS3 have not won me over.
I'm lucky I have the option of going with the PC version.
I'm saying the graphics are not much better than BC2. As for the gameplay I do miss all the destruction and the games are already filled with prone snipers.
Sorry. It is an ugly game unless you're ok with jaggies, screen tearing, poor character animation, low poly character models, texture pop in and low res textures.
I love BC2 on PS3 and was hoping for more after all the pre-hype for this game. Was not expecting PC quality visuals but I was expecting visuals that did not look 2-3 years old.
Its looks decidedly average. Honestly, screen tearing, jaggies and low res textures. Is this really the age of HD console gaming?
I was really disappointed that the visuals looked no better than BC2 on console.
This is an article about the PS3 version.
Anyway, I am so over the beta on PS3 already. The graphics are just so under whelming.
You know, Sony proclaimed that HD gaming only starts with the PS3 (pre launch hype). Nothing about the PS3 beta makes me believe HD is even possible on PS3. Jaggies and low res textures are everywhere. Screen tearing and I doubt its a sustained 30fps.
I know my comments will get hit with disagrees but after play...
I think the beta was pretty average from a visuals perspective. Its looks more like BC2.1 than a complete upgrade to the frostbite engine.
NOTE: My comments are aimed at the visuals and not the gameplay.
Damn it. That's my reaction to the PS3 beta for BF3. I was really hoping the visuals we're going to receive a major overhaul from BC2.
Jaggy shadows, low res textures, no player shadow, floating bushes (crawl under one and you'll see what I mean) poor player animation are all orders of the day. Honestly, what is with that awful animation of the gun leaning when you're looking...
BC2 did look fine except for the jaggies. Have they addressed AA at all on the PS3 this time around?
Not sure if it was my player but the PS3 footage suffered from some major syncing issues. 360 not so much and PC none that I could see.
I couldn't tell if they had given your player a shadow. Annoys me when they have what appears to be a great lighting model but your player is a ghost.
Will download the demos tomorrow and see for myself.
The RE4 HD release was great but for some low res textures. Never played X but might check it out if its good.
even after all these years RE4 is still a great play through. would have been nice to get some hi-res textures in as well but still worth the asking price.
So Capcom, what the hell went so wrong with RE5?
I have the Nav controller. I find the analog controll on it a bit loose compared to the DS3.
I look forward to the PS3 beta to see just how much of an improvement has been made. I really, really hope they have managed to squeeze out more AA this time around.
I actually think BC2 was more fun to play. Certainly looked better anyway.
