I'm not big on multi-player usually, but I did enjoy Gears 3 PVP (even though I wasn't good at it).

Xbox Series is 4 and a half years old, and they've barely supported it. Even within the next 2 years they wouldn't have given it enough first party game support.
Expecting people to support you after getting burned is a surefire way of losing even more consumer trust. Microsoft doesn't need new hardware, they need some high quality games, and tons of them prior to launching a new console.
