While I think this generation has had its issues, disappointments, and has taken its sweet time to build up steam, looking at what's in store this year there's just no way I could pass up what's on offer.
Gravity Rush 2, Nier Automata, Nioh, Yakuza 0, Mass Effect Andromeda, Persona 5, Tekken 7, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Resi 7, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Yooka-Laylee, DJ Max Respect, Dreams, The Sinking City, Call of Cthulhu, Rime, Detroit: Become Human, Aeero... Plus a smatt...
"For nearly twenty years, we’ve lambasted Nintendo for their peculiar design limitations all while ignoring the fact that such limitations didn’t hamper great games from coming to those consoles."
Sure, but it's about *how many* great games they have compared to their competitors, and the features they have compared to their competitors. The last Nintendo console I owned was the Wii, and aside from Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess, there was...
@ starchild
But the problem is people aren't using the word correctly. Tons of people and various articles are straight up saying "PS4 exclusive" or "Xbox exclusive" to describe games that are on more than one platform. Heck, one list for Xbox straight up used the term "games you can only get on this platform" and then starts with Quantum Break. That is an improper use of the word. To say SFV is exclusive to PS4 and PC is a correct use of t...
Agree. The word "exclusive" should only be used if they mean exactly that. The meaning of the word has not changed; people are just using it incorrectly to fuel their fanboy PS4 vs XBO list wars.
"They should just have a difficulty selection. I know people hate it, but these games must not sell amazingly well compared to other AAA games."
People have brought this idea up, and I'm just not convinced. Demon's Souls only ever gained acknowledgement in the first place because of its old school challenge. If that was only relegated to the "hard" mode, and with other "just optional" features like a mini map, objectives list, extra che...
Nintendo have basically become a parody of themselves at this point.
*Repeatedly bashes face against desk*
If the PSP and DS could handle online play without using your phone then I really don't see why this should be a problem.
I got mine at launch and play it all the time. In fact I probably play it more than my PS4! :) So handy to have at work and play while on break.
My big hope is that this year, we see the inevitable localisation news for all the currently Japan-only Vita games. Coven and The Labyrinth, Uppers, Net High, Death Mark, Dungeon Travelers 2-2, Idol Death Game TV, Exile's End etc.
That's not to say we don't already have a number of promising games for this year. I'm looking forward to Danganronpa V3, Operation Babel and Mary Skelter Nightmares the most!
Good news! :)
There are more Vita games coming out this year that interest me than there are Switch games that interest me. And that's not even counting all the currently JP-only games that are simply waiting to be localised. So yeah, I think I'll be keeping my Vita, thanks.
"Bulky gamer headset" LMAO!
Yeah, Reggie. When I put on my over-ear headset to hear absolutely crisp audio and talk to people in a party online with the utmost ease with volume controls at my fingertips, my head is weighed down oh so much, I nearly get whiplash! Oh, the pain!
I can't decide if Nintendo is knowingly giving a piss poor excuse or they're genuinely that out of touch with reality.
Gravity Rush 2, Nioh and Horizon: Zero Dawn are dead certs for me. I'm also interested in Yakuza 0 and Resi 7, but damn it, my wallet only stretches so far!
That is fair enough; nobody else's opinion should get in the way of your enjoyment. If Mario and Zelda is your bread and butter, go ahead and enjoy yourself.
But for a lot of people, it just isn't enough. :/
A great game to play with the in-laws. Brings families together.
XD
Not just that, but the Wii was much cheaper when it released, and came with a game packed in. In the UK the Wii was £180 including Wii Sports. The Switch will be £280 plus another £50 for a game. Casuals are not going to drop that kind of money, even if they think it looks fun.
You make a very good point. There's not much reason for a Wii U owner to upgrade outside of Mario Odyssey and a couple ports of PS4 games.
I wish I could believe that...
1. Persona 5
Given that Persona 4 is my favourite JRPG of the past decade, and one of my favourite games of all time, I'm totally ready to give another 80 hours of my time to its sequel. I've stayed well clear of spoilers, and I'm ready to give myself over completely once it releases.
2. Tekken 7
I'll be honest, Tekken Tag 2 lost me a little. Despite being a Tekken mega fan, and UK tournament goer, Tag 2 felt overstuffed with characters (6...
