Yup, that much is obvious. Just like how people assume you have an agenda or bias if you say something about a game, even if you're just relaying information. I'm actually super hyped for Nioh, have been since the alpha demo, and can't wait to play it when my copy arrives next week. But I guess because I pointed out an irrefutable, inarguable, objective fact, I must hate it / be a casual / be anti-Sony.
Tell me about it. Not once did the guy complain it was too hard yet everyone's making fun of him for being a casual.
Aside from that, I find this community-wide revulsion towards outlying opinions to be worthy of constant facepalm. Anything that's not within the general consensus is deemed to be "click bait." I thought gamers were trying to shake the stigma of being seen as childish and vitriolic?
Guys, actually read the review. He never said it was too difficult; he said the lack of enemy variety made it repetitive. You're all jumping to conclusions.
Polygon's review:
"What, this isn't Gone Home? 3/10."
Couldn't have said it better myself! Too many people think "difficulty" is all a case of moving values on a slider. Enemy health, player damage, xp gain, lives, time limit etc. "Just make the enemies do less damage, boom, there's your easy mode." It's such a shallow way of looking at things when developers are capable of being much cleverer, of creating challenge by changing the dynamic of the game, adding an extra complexity, or (like MGS2) hiding the hidden b...
I agree that people need to stop trying to shame others for finding a game too difficult. "Git gud" should only ever be used ironically, not as a way to antagonise people.
With that said, there is indeed a niche for ultra challenging games that require skill, concentration, patience, practice etc, and nobody should be trying to shame developers who appeal to that niche and call them "anti-consumer" or "elitist" or whatever. Developers can make...
While I don't think it's quite as bad as this article makes it out to be, I would definitely say the game did not even come close to living up to the hype IMO, and I enjoyed the first game a lot more.
My personal experience with The Thing wasn't a good one, unfortunately. I was extremely interested in the trust mechanic, and being unsure if your teammates had been infected while you were absent. This was the one big thing that made me want to play the game. But at one point early on in the game I did the blood test on my two companions just before entering a corridor, and they came up clean. I took literally just a few steps into the corridor and BOOM, a scripted scene hit and they bot...
My current backlog is at 16 games, (hopefully 15 by tomorrow, just need to get the last few endings on Steins; Gate 0, then it's on to Dishonored 2) and I've decided to put off buying certain games (Gravity Rush 2, Resi 7, Nioh) until I've got it lowered. Trouble is, there are so many upcoming games this year, my backlog will inevitably expand no matter what.
It's not as bad as it used to be though. About 2 years ago I had a backlog of over 40 games, and it...
Nope, what would REALLY happen is they'd walk past, disgusted, screw their face up and be like: "Ewww! Nintendo! Get a life!" Then they'd spot some guy playing the PS Vita, their jaw would drop, they'd go weak at the knees, their breath would turn shallow, and they'd instantly leap to his side, eyes pleading him to make love to them then and there...
And that's why I no longer play my Vita on the bus. Far too distracting having women all over m...
I see this possibility from two perspectives:
1) From a personal point of view as a consumer, I would love Nintendo to do this. Even if I didn't buy it right away I would still see it as a sign that handhelds would still be on the market, which, as a lover of handhelds, would love to see remain true for as many years as possible. It might even convince Sony to release a successor to the Vita, given how popular the system is in Japan. Which again, I would love to see, e...
[Deleted because it was nonsense]
I... didn't even think of that. Wii, Wii U, Switch... the PS3 will be in production over the lifetime of 3 Nintendo home consoles.
What's interesting is I remember the dark times of the PS3 launch. The platform was seeing low sales compared to the competition, and people were convinced it was dead in the water. Years later and it's outsold the 360 worldwide and has outlived not one, but TWO Nintendo consoles. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
@Lennoxb63
To say consoles and PC are not in competition is folly. This generation, more than ever, console gamers are dipping into PC gaming, and PC gaming has become more casual friendly than ever. Several people I know play both console and PC. None of them have Xboxs. The idea that console and PC gaming are completely separate markets is false.
That's a pretty bold claim given Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 exist...
It'll be even bolder once Nioh and Persona 5 are released!
But seriously, regardless of what it may be, what a wonderful time to be a PS4 owner, eh?
Nice troll attempt, gave me a chuckle. :)
- Another Armoured Core
- A new Souls-like game set in a sci-fi universe
- King's Field 5? Pretty please?
- The Adventures of Cookie and Cream 2: Cookier and Creamier
- Something completely different
Funnily enough I just completed Shovel Knight yesterday, on physical Vita cart. :)
I'm physical all the way; very very rarely will I buy digital. People act like it's not a big deal if services get shut down. "It's just old, old games. Who's gonna play them in the future?" I used to think this way back when I was a kid, hurriedly selling all my PS1 games for cash, convinced I would only care about the PS2 from then on, and so forth from PS2 to PS3...
"Stagnant competition"
Yet the Switch's big upcoming titles are, another Zelda, another Mario, another Splatoon, a Mario Kart remake, and Street Fighter 2 for the thousandth time. But yeah, the PS4 with its massive breadth of varied games (especially this year) is "stagnant."
And sure, let's all pretend 1-2 Switch is so amazing and different despite looking like a poor man's Warioware.
If I die in a game because of bad camera, poor mechanics or glitches? Sure, that's frustrating. If I die because I made a mistake then that's just another challenge I need to overcome.
