Remember when tons of gaming journalists lamented the return of Crash, and said it would only appeal to a small number of players? That the old mechanics just wouldn't be good enough? That people THOUGHT they wanted Crash, but they were wrong about themselves? Remember all that?
Yeah... I'm not forgetting that nonsense anytime soon. Bring on CTR.
So long as a game has the right age rating, just what is the problem? I can buy manga with nudity, films with nudity, oil paintings with nudity, but as soon as it's videogames suddenly teh kiddies will be corrupted. Treat it as an equal art form because that's exactly what it is.
Competition drives the industry. Why innovate if there's no competition? Why drop prices? Why push for bigger and better things? Why bother improving anything? If there's no competition, companies have nothing to worry about. And I guess if we have just one system, that one system will be exactly to everyone's preference, right? Right...?
Competition is a good thing, even if it means I miss out on a couple games. If it matters that much to me I can just buy the...
Not a WoW player myself, but I know a lot of the ire against Blizzard comes from their insistence on not providing legacy servers when it's heavily requested. Oh, and also this infamous arrogant response to that request: https://youtu.be/0Wrw3c2Nje...
So yeah, while I believe developers should be able to make games to suit their vision, pissing off your fanbase like that isn't the smartest of decisions.
Even taking into account the patchy AI and camera, I would still consider it a masterpiece. In fact I enjoyed it more than Shadow of The Colossus.
Yeah, one of the best selling games of all time that's still in the charts won't get a sequel. O_o
Mine too. Without a shadow of a doubt the best experience I've had in my 25 years of gaming. :)
I remember after I finished it I entered a weird kind of depression. Every other game I played just wasn't in the same league, as if I'd reached nirvana but had now hurtled back to earth to toil in the mud. Everything felt so bland and boring in comparison. "Why play any other game if it isn't Dark Souls? It's all trash." This went on for several mon...
What's funny is that on my frequented Vita fan forum (The Vita Lounge) phrases like "Vita is dead" and "No Gamez" are used ironically, since most of us have a massive backlog of games and numerous upcoming releases we're excited for. XD
It may not be getting big name heavy hitters but it still gets tons of support from Japanese devs and many indie releases. Heck, I have 9 upcoming physical games (not counting obscure digital indies) for this yea...
To be fair, at least the headline reads "Unpopular Opinion." If he'd gone with a clickbait title like "Persona 5 is overrated" or "Why Persona 5 isn't as great as you think it is" then yeah, that would be facepalm-worthy. He's entitled to his opinion.
But as for the article's worth in terms of content, yeah, it's not worth much. It's kind of tragic watching all these sites vying for views when their content is just the s...
One of my buddies gave up on Persona 5 pretty early despite liking Persona 3 and 4. His main complaint was "you're restricted by the time constraints, you only have a limited number of days." My response was "yeah, but it's exactly the same as 3 and 4, and you loved those games." He didn't really have a response for that and just pussyfooted around it. I keep trying to understand and I just can't...
Agreed. A huge environment is only an advantage If it has the great level design to back it up.
"I know my kids won't leave the house until they beat each of them."
Almost sounds like a threat, lol.
"Papa, please, let us outside! You're scaring us!"
*Raises belt* "Oh, sure, you can go outside. Just as soon as you PLATINUM PERSONA 5 AND NIOH!" *Lashes belt against the wall* "Get to it!"
Completely agree. The only things a developer "should" do are to make an actual functional game that works, and to be honest about their product. Everything else is up to them, and if we don't like what we see, we don't buy it. I suck at RTS games because I find it hard to keep an eye on all your troops, build offensive strategies beyond "send them all in!" But I would never demand devs dumb their game down for me, I just don't play them, and let the devs do as...
I disagree. I thought the gameplay for MGSV was some of the weakest in the series. Mediocre level design and enemy placement and middling mission incentives. Never before in a Metal Gear game have I felt so bored...
Dungeon Travelers 2 is hella pervy, but it's also one of my favourite RPGs ever thanks to its intricate labyrinthine dungeons, excellent battle and levelling systems and thrilling white-knuckle boss battles. The sexy characters and enemies are a bonus. XD
If it's of genuine benefit to the game and its developers, sure. From what I've read these guys quit their jobs and staked everything on this. If the game simply couldn't have happened in its current without someone stepping and giving support then yeah, I'd call that a good thing, even though I don't own a system that can play it. (And I genuinely would like to play it) Devs being able to realise their vision is of paramount importance to this industry IMO.
Me: Nah, nah, we should have more variety, and more games like Dark Souls just risks the formula getting stale and disappointing. I want to see developers trying something different that we haven't seen before. Innovation is the lifeblood of the industry.
Also me: HOT DAMN THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE! DEMON'S SOULS, DARK SOULS, BLOODBORNE, NIOH... KEEP 'EM COMING! MY THIRST IS INSATIABLE! *Rips shirt off chest*
Depends on the game and depends on how it's implemented. Sometimes it's totally necessary to avoid boredom and frustration, but there are also times when restricting fast travel has you learning the lay of the land and subconsciously memorising the game world, which can often make them more memorable, and add something positive when you reflect on your experience. Then again, the game needs some really great world/level design in order for this to be viable.
This insistence that old games suck because of old-school mechanics and design is getting tiresome.
I still play old PS1 and PS2 games from time to time, most of which are games that I wanted to play as a kid but couldn't because I had no income, but now I can buy. I didn't play games like Front Mission 3, King's Field IV, Castlevania: Symphony of The Night, Gregory Horror Show, Final Fantasy IX and others until the PS4 era, and yet they became some of my favou...
Hopefully, 2020 at the earliest. Preferably 2021. We don't need a PS5 anytime soon.
