I may be in the minority here but I still think Asylum is by far my favourite Arkham game. I liked City... But I loved the atmosphere in Asylum way more and enjoyed traversing the areas, finding every riddler trophy just out of sheer love for the game. With City the area was bigger but didn't feel as well designed, whereas little impressive details were around every corner in Asylum. That said, the Freeze and Clay face fights in City were pretty great.

Because signals player games have far more potential to become masterpieces than multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, there are multiplayer games that I love, and I've put over 800 hours into Tekken 7, but overall, very few multiplayer games reach that zenith of brilliance while many single player games do. For me, at least.

That's a good point actually, not everyone will agree because everyone considers the term in their own way. In other mediums though it tends to be the opposite, for example in tabletop gaming the term "Euro game" was coined, and generally relates as games that include resource management, "cube pushing" and token trading. (It is rather difficult to define) The term was popularised with games like Puerto Rico and other games made by European developers, but since then m...

No.

JRPG is a genre. Genres are there to define the type of experience, its inspiration, and what you can expect, not the country where it was developed. With that logic, every restaurant within 100 miles of my town is an English restaurant. They serve ramen? Donburi? Udon? No, sorry, the restaurant is in England and the people who made it are English, therefore it is English food.
Even the term "role playing game" could relate to just about anything. I...

@Kakashi

Levelling up increases stats... While also increasing enemy stats. The problem is, player stats hit a limit much, much earlier on since the junction system allows you to attain extremely high stats at low, low levels. Levelling up HINDERS you, and that's an objective fact. The optimal way to play is to draw the best magic, abuse the junction system, then steamroll the game, using mostly basic attacks and aura to spam limit break. Check any vid on YouTube of the...

Just looked it up, and you're right, it was SIX YEARS in the making. Holy smokes... And to release to such a lukewarm reception is crazy.

I would put 9 above 8, but for one reason only: 8's levelling system. The fact that levelling up your characters actually weakens you, and that the optimal way to play through the game is to run from every battle and keep your level as low as possible was not only broken and nonsensical, but added a layer of annoyance across the entire game. It damn near ruined the game for me, which is a shame, because in every other facet from music to art design to world design to battle system, 8 woul...

Trackmania Turbo - Stages #175 and #180

Each took me about 8 hours to get the Gold time. And each stage is only 3 minutes long. Taking into account early restarts... That's at least 500 or so attempts.

SSX Tricky and SSX 3 are some of the best games of all time. It's easy to forget that EA of all companies was responsible.

Honestly I just felt burnt out on the series, and after both Battlefield 4 and 1 had terrible launches I knew I wasn't going to pre-order, then I find out from others the state of the game at launch is even WORSE than I had predicted.
As a side note, I personally had no problem with the inclusion of the cyborg woman and other pushes for female inclusion. That didn't bother me in the slightest. But when people criticised them for not being historically accurate, and instead o...

I deliberated for a while on whether to just pick standard mode, but you're right, hardcore feels like the "true" way to play. You have to be so careful, and a single zombie can present a huge roadblock depending on circumstances. Not being able to save scum forces you to be consistent, too.

Both are amazing. I will say, however, that being able to pick hardcore mode from the get go on RE2 has led to a much more terrifying experience. I've never played the original so this is all new to me. Having limited saves makes it incredibly tense!

What? If anything, it's made me respect Nintendo more. Also, while I don't own a Switch, Metroid Prime 4 was the one game that might tip me over the edge to buying one, but I was VERY skeptical since Retro weren't developing it. Now that they are, I can breathe a sigh of relief.

A lot of people say "the games story wasn't very good but the gameplay is amazing!" Sorry, but I heavily my disagree. The open world is utterly terrible, nothing to do in it, broken flow, you spend a lot of your time either in a chopper ride or running a barren wasteland to get to the mission location. The enemy settlements aren't well designed and give the world no cohesion. There are no NPCs or interesting side content to do, absolutely no reason to explore, and while the ...

I'm a huge MG fan, have been since MGS on the PS1, and I think TPP's gameplay is lackluster. If it was its own IP and not Metal Gear, I would've given up on it much, much sooner.

Completely agree. I love horror games but wouldn't always say that they're "fun." Arguably the best survival horror of all time, Silent Hill 2, is tense, stressful, emotional, grim and depressing. Fun? No, not really. One of the greatest games ever made? Yeah, probably.
