I didn't say that Super Mario 64 was the first 3-d game, but I did say that it was the game to influence the transition from 2-d to 3-d as we know it today.
Donkey Kong released in 1981
Pitfall released in 1982
So it could be argued that they stole Miyamoto's idea, not the other way around.
SwordQuest was a rip off of Adventure actually...so your argument dies there. Also, Zelda was a completely different type of game that SwordQuest was.
That every fantasy is not original, since fantasies came before it.
Or ever Science Fiction can't be original, since Sci Fi came before it.
Every type of story started somewhere, but you can use a genre and still have it be original. He did that with his franchises. Lord of the Rings brought Fantasy based story telling to the forefront of book reading, but it wasn't the first fantasy ever created. It was still original though.
Consoles had to th...
I don't know if you're joking or not, but if not then you don't know what you are talking about.
Without Miyamoto, there wouldn't be any gaming today. He is the one that saved the industry when it was about done for.
He invented platforming as we know it, as well as progression of a game to an end: with Donkey Kong and later with Super Mario Bros.
He practically created modern 3-d gaming as we know it with Super Mario 64, which utilized an analog ...
That is very much the way I look at it. The terms are silly, they don't mean anything. People feel they need to label anything anymore, and it's just silly.
Games are games, and they are meant to be enjoyed by everyone.
It'll be pretty fantastic.
This is the issue BluRay is going to have. It's more expensive, as are the BluRay players, and there is not a big enough difference in picture and audio quality to justify the switch.
I haven't bought a BluRay movie yet. I am still more than happy with DVDs and don't see myself switching for a while. It's just not worth spending 30 bucks on a glorified DVD.
I think it's a pretty decent list of some great games created by one of the greatest designers in history. Whether you like it or not, Nintendogs is the reason the DS became the unstoppable force that it is now in handheld gaming.
Super Mario Bros 3 deserves to be the top spot though, since it is still one of the most beloved games made by him.
What suprised me though, was that his Gamecube masterpiece Pikmin wasn't on the list, since that franchise is absolutel...
I hate the distinction that people have forced out there, casual or hardcore. Don't hardcore gamers want to have fun also? Can't a casual gamer be passionate about the game they love (Such as Wii Sports?)
It's a silly segregation, in my opinion.
I have been gaming since the Atari 2600, and I absolutely have been enjoying these so called "Casual" titles...does that make me any less hardcore of a gamer than the rest of you?
Not at all. I...
I was one of the ones to turn his back on Nintendo during the N64 period, and I am more than happy to be back in the Nintendo camp. I play the Wii almost daily, I love the VC (Since I grew up on those games, many are hard to get nowadays without paying crazy amounts, and I hate pirating/theft), and I cannot wait for WiiWare. On top of that the GC had some fantastic games that I'm getting to try for the first time.
All in all, the Wii is one of my favorite gaming purchases, an...
It just got rediculous when Sonic Adventure came out. I like the mains for the most part - Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, Knuckles, Amy and maybe Shadow in his first appearance (Everything after involving him was trash).
Now there are so many characters that none of them mean anything.
People say that Nintendo turned their backs on gamers, (Even though I don't agree with that statement), but remember gamers turned their backs on Nintendo first.
They focused solely on the hardcore with the GC, it had a little more power than the other systems, they worked to secure some major franchises, and did everything to cater to the "hardcore." Unfortunately, that same group turned their backs on Nintendo, so to save their company they realized they needed to ...
I absolutely love SSBB, and I find this review hilarious. He did it for his fanbase, which says alot about him as a reviewer. But it's hard to fairly review a game when you hate the genre to begin with, so SSBB was doomed from the start.
I have a PS3 and a Wii, and since launch of both, I actually play the Wii more. It has more quality games than its given credit for, because these so called "Hardcore gamers" can't get their heads far enough out of their rumps to grow up and realize playing shooter games doesn't make you an adult.
My wife plays the Wii, I can play it with my daughter, and I even play it alot solo with games that has been released for it. On top of that the prospect for 2008 is looki...
You live under a rock?
I'm not sure how informed you are, but the DS has had erotic genre games produced for it for a while over in Japan.
Only theirs are underground projects that allow you to use the stylus to...um....immerse yourself in the experience.
I didn't realize that so many would rush out to spend so much money on a glorified demo. Hope you enjoy it though. I'll get to play online with all of you when the full game is released.
I plan on getting it. It looks interesting and my wife thinks it looks fun, plus I'm sure my daughter would love it.
I'll have to get down there to pre-order it.
Someone needs to put this company out of business.
Since when is Final Fantasy X one of the best games of all time.
Final Fantasy IV and VI blow it out of the water. If you want to go post SNES era, then Final Fantasy VIII and IX blows it out of the water.
