"The always on function is to authenticate games to keep you from playing used games."
I don't see many missing this point. Not being able to play used games or rentals would be the kiss of death for me with MS. 80% of the games I play are either from GF or purchased used.
If MS does in fact go this route it will save me space on my entertainment cabinet. I didn't get a Wii U and I will pass on the "Next Box" if these rumors turn ...
Always on is a horrible idea. All the rhetorical spin can't justify it. If MS does indeed go this route it will hurt them. I honestly don't understand what the R&D team is thinking. MS needs to fire them and 86 this idea.
This is as bad as Sony not going all out for a full online infrastructure right out of the gate. Does everyone remember Phil Harrison complaining that Sony (Japan) wasn't focusing on online features and options for the PS3 before it was rel...
Included is a pic of my triple panel gaming rig, Fanatec CSR Elite FFB wheel (best wheel that is compatible with the XBox 360) and it takes 3 360's to use this triple panel display to play Forza. BUT I also own 2 other 360's for other areas in my home to game.
Okay, with that aside. Am I now allowed to express concern if these rumors turn out to be facts? Sorry but this article is pure flame bait. Is there Sony fans chuckling and jumping on the coat tails of these rum...
I'm holding off until the official announcement and details from MS. BUT if these rumors are true I don't see myself getting a Next Box any time soon if ever. I am a Forza addict and the 360 was far and away my gaming platform of choice over the past several years and I own them ALL.
I majority of games I play I rent or purchase used. Also I game offline probably 20% of the time. This would be an inconvenience for me and I am rather fond of not wasting money on games ...
@DOMination
"If it blocks used games and ps4 doesn't.. Then publishers will abandon the ps4 as it will make them less money."
This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read on N4G. If MS 86 used and rentals they might as well leave the gaming industry because Sony would steam roll them into oblivion. 4 out of 5 games I play on (PS3, 360, Wii and PC gaming rig) are either rented or purchased used. MOST gamers I know are the same as me. It has nothing t...
Gran Turismo is a driving simulator. In life if you crash you car at high speed it's game over. I disable rewind in Forza and I don't use it in any other racing game that has it. I want to earn my wins and lap times.
As far as what I want from PD with GT6 is wheel and eyefinity support. Everything else is a bonus.
I'm ready PD.
Bring it on!
I'm on the fence with this one. Played them all. Enjoyed the original the most for online and 2's campaign. I'm not sure what to make of this spin off game since I'm not a fan of Baird. I am definitely going to play it but I might gamefly it instead of purchasing it.
I really hope these are just rumors and rumors only. AOAC would be a deal breaker for me and the 360 is my main gaming device. It's not even close and I own them ALL (Wii, PS3, 360 and a killer PC gaming rig). I did not purchase a Wii U because of the direction Nintendo went with it and I will not purchase the Next Box if MS does in fact goes this route.
@Postedup
I refer you GT Prologue and it's sales.
If PD released a GT6 Prologue it would most likely sell 3+ million copies and I am being modest. Anything more than a million would most likely garner PD breaking even or a surplus.
Exactly onyoursistersback (love the name ;).
There is no way Sony wont have a version for the PS4. Even if we have to wait a year or so. There will definitely be one.
And your 110% right about GT fans purchasing wheels and possibly rigs just for that series. I have 2 rigs and GT is the reason I got into purchases wheels. I have owned several over the years and now I have a Fanatec CSR Elite and Thrustmaster T500. There is nothing like playing racing games on a good ri...
Regardless if GT6 does launch on the PS3 you can bet your house and everything in it PD will make a version for the PS4. Sony is not going to sit back and watch Turn 10 wheel out Forza 5 and then Forza Horizon and make their audience wait 3 to 5 years for the next GT iteration. Not going to happen.
I just hope my wheels (Fanatec CSR Elite and T500) work with both the PS4 and NextBox. I almost know it will with Sony. They kept the PS3 open ended (nearly all USB / Bluetooth per...
It all depends on Microsoft and which approach they will take with their next gen offering. IMO, and I think that of a lot of 360 gamers, MS has went to casual the past few years with Kinect and relying heavily on only a few exclusives franchise titles (Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable) and exclusive timed DLC.
I honestly have a hard time not seeing Sony being favored going into the next generation considering they keep churning out new IPs yearly and giving their audience a wide v...
morganfell beat me to it.
I couldn't have said it better.
Ditto.
Micro transactions are the worse idea any publisher has come up with thus far. DLC in general irritates me to the core. After making the mistake of buying the season pass for Forza 4 I refuse to be duped again. Turn 10 put out a lot of DLC that wasn't covered under the season pass.
That was the first time I ever purchased a season pass for anything and only the 4th time I purchased any DLC this entire generation and I own both the PS3 and 360.
DOOMED! DOOMED! DOOMED I TELL YAH!
Wow really? Can't these sites stop the (starving for hits) doom and gloom and talk about the positive for once? We will learn more at E3. The games shown at Sonys press conference is just small taste of what is to come. They barely touched on the direction they are headed with their next gen offering. We are practically newborns here trying to find our way. Be patient and wait until we have more info.
Sorry but these doo...
MS hasn't changed the way we play online together. They simply advanced what started in PC gaming and brought it to consoles. I use to be a mainstream PC gamer and their online integration (Kali / Gamespy) was ahead of it's time. You could find your friends and clan mates in a millisecond and jump on to the server they were on within minutes. You could also message them well before voice communication was an option while your were at the desktop and they were in game.
That's not HD. It's jaggy as hell. I thought it would be a rewritten version made for HD like did with SF remix. SIGH. I really want a new Darkstalkers game.
@just_looken
I've been gaming since it's inception (the 70's) and this is the most excited I've been for new hardware. Sonys event, keeping in mind they are saving A LOT for E3, wowed me. I am already on 3 different alert list for pre-orders.
@Knushwood
just_lookens hobby isn't gaming.
It's trolling.
As long as MS gives me Forza I'm good to go.
It's my overall favorite "racing" title. Note the quotes around racing. All I hope is my current racing equipment will work with the "Next Box". If not, oh well. I will just have to upgrade, again. I'm crazy that way.
I want the gaming industry to keep going until the day I shuffle this mortal coil so I don't wish any company out of this industry (Manufacturers, developers and publishers ...
