That's what I was thinking: that this would mean the next Xbox is coming in 2013, since the Gears and Halo franchises do the whole "leapfrog strategy" thing.

Seems plausible.

Yes, it is. Coming to both the 360 and PS3.

Explanation: all those games are sequels or variations of good titles. If you go to Metacritic or GameRankings, you'll see the previous versions all at least got fairly good reviews.

Why are you sticking your nose up to fun family/casual games? I swear, I don't get gamers sometimes. Fun is fun.

Just my own personal preference, but the sticks have never been the primary problem with the PS3 controller for FPS gaming, it's those horrible triggers.

The PS3's controller works far better for fighting games with its D-Pad, though.

@ StanLee: I'm really not seeing the correlation you're making. If people are happy with this resolution, why WOULDN'T they shit on Call of Duty for being sub-HD? That would seem to agree with their sentiment on the matter and there's nothing hypocritical about it.

If you mean it being 704p and not 720p -- that's hardly noticeable at all. Hell, on a lot of TVs the overscan will take up some or all of that. There's a big difference between 704p and 560p...

Actually, the reason for those articles is because the media knows they get hits and start controversy. You commenting on this topic is indicative of that.

Also: the PS3 and 360 are extremely close in worldwide sales. Why does each side insist on saying that's not true?

I used it this weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic. I didn't have any of the problems this author is referring to; the only hiccups were natural -- when the Michigan/Western Michigan and Notre Dame/South Florida games were canceled and delayed, respectively, because of bad weather.

The results don't add up because it wasn't a pick-one scenario. It asked which games -- plural -- were a respondent's favorites.

I have doubts about this poll's validity, since it says it surveyed "1,103 self-confessed female gamers age 18 and over." Now, either they're included people who don't associate with their birth gender, or the implication is the survey was done online and had no way to actually know what gender the person responding was.

I mean, the games on the list don't necessarily surprise me, but there are other games that I'm wondering how they didn't m...

Michael Pachter is a moron. He's the same guy who predicts price drops for all the consoles every year, then when it finally happens he yells, 'see! Told ya so!' The only reason he's right is because any idiot can tell you there's eventually going to be a price drop.

After all the bragging EA did about Battlelog being free, I very seriously doubt they're going to emulate Elite's pricing structure anytime soon.

One guy leaves and your first reaction is 'I hope everyone else doesn't leave'? This kind of thing happens all the time, and not just in the gaming industry. I mean, I get your point, but Rare was a disaster in the making, this is just one guy leaving because of a difference in views on a specific game.

@ Tanir: STFU? Really? Grow up. If you disagree with me, that's fine, but there's no reason to get childish. I love playing games with great stories, and I love movies. In fact, I've seen well over 2,000 movies, so I think it's safe to say I don't dislike movies.

Cutscenes are not necessary in games. Look at the likes of the Half-Life and Portal series, Bioshock -- games with strong character development, strong storylines, and an immersive experience. I d...

You don't have to have cutscenes to play a story-driven game. See: Half-Life 2. I, for one, agree with him. I'd much rather have moments like Half-Life 2 has than cutscenes.

Cutscenes bore me to tears.

You only need one reason to stay away from Bodycount: it's a shit game.

You should have stopped after your first sentence, IMO. The first Metroid Prime game was fantastic, Corruption's obviously great, and the other game (Echoes? Can't recall) wasn't too bad.

It'd be like disqualifying the Halo series just because of Halo 2.

Wolfenstein isn't really sci-fi.

Seriously? Killzone 2 is one of the best exclusives of this generation. It's easily on par with the quality of Halo 3, ODST and Reach, if not above the quality set by those games.

Damn, what is it with geeks that they can't accept when a female celebrity likes video games? Is it really that foreign of a concept to you?

Of course she's going to say positive things about something she's promoting. But it doesn't sound scripted anymore than what my female friends would say about a video game they play.

All this crap about 'women don't play videogames' is why geeks can't pick up women. You buy it when a male...

Anyone who has actually played the game would know that it is indeed better with Kinect. Anyone who hasn't will just vote "disagree" on all the statements that say as much, though.

Kinect isn't a good option for most games, but it's great for Child of Eden and the games that are designed from the ground-up for it.

I don't see how on earth anyone can say it's not a game of the year contender.

Because it doesn't have enough fans? It's sold millions of copies, and there are plenty of games that have sold less than it that have gotten GOTY awards (see, for example, Homeworld). Because it doesn't have replay value? Well, last time I checked, Max Payne 2 won quite a few GOTY awards, and Portal 2 has more replay than Max Payne 2, plus it's getting free DLC soon. Half-...
