Hoffman had absolutely no role in Gears of War 3. It was almost a cameo it was so pointless. As for Dizzy -- why should he be there? Again, it was a pointless addition where he added absolutely nothing to the story.
Jace was a great character, I thought. He's far more believable and relatable than the "dude bro" characters in Delta squad. Thought Ice-T did a superb job as Griffin as well.
SPOILERS AHEAD...
I didn't really have much of a problem with the story itself, just the way Epic presented it. So much of it just felt flat, especially the cutscenes. I know people here were up in arms about reviews criticizing the story of this game since the first two weren't amazing, but after beating the game, I can understand the complaints.
I also felt like a few things were forced into the game for no reason. There was no reason to have Hoffma...
Seriously? I thought the second game had a good story. The story in the first was almost non-existent.
I don't think "magnanimous" means what you think it means.
FISCAL 2014, which starts in April 2013.
Having added features is a bad thing? Do you also long for the days where you could only do mundane things on a computer?
She said some dumb things, granted, but Michael Bay's sexism is pretty well documented.
Of course they are. I mean, given everything Microsoft's said about working with cable providers, this is just common sense -- go after the biggest fish and make deals.
4 stars (or just "out of 4") is actually a pretty common score, just not for gaming. Hotel, restaurant, film, and many other industries use it pretty heavily.
Hah, exactly -- it's hard to know with Valve.
The Source engine is almost constantly getting updated, but I'm wondering what Valve's referring to when it says the engine's about to get even better. The cloth movement in Dota 2, or is something new about to be announced?
If they couldn't run Crysis, Crytek wouldn't be porting it.
Also: there's no need to make comparisons between console hardware and PC hardware capable of running Crysis. There are so many differences (such as how RAM is utilized) that it's impossible to compare the two. Also, Crytek has been optimizing the engine and revamping a lot of areas, so it's not a 1:1 comparison even if consoles and PCs utilized hardware in the same way.
@ Chevalier: Rocksteady had made one previous game that got decent-to-good reviews (75%). This studio is most definitely not in that category -- their last two games have gotten average review scores of 33%/43% (360, PS3 version) and 51%.
All the reviews I can find of their games have aggregate scores of the 50% range or less (Google "THQ Australia Studio").
I never said nor implied that Sony wouldn't still win the debate between exclusives. All I said was this is an obvious trolling article, and it is.
Care to dispute any of my points? That it's not really from a journalistic outlet? That it's from a Playstation fan (search for the author's name on the Internet) who doesn't even own a 360? That not including downloadable titles is asinine? That including remakes and ports doesn't fit with what the article...
Obvious troll post is obvious.
Hitman0769 submitted his own "news story" which is what amounts to a blog post. The original version featured numerous missing games, and it doesn't take into account downloadable titles, which as an area the 360 excels. It also includes remakes/ports for both consoles.
Looking at his previous stories ("It's Time For Microsoft To Leave The Industry"), it's obvious he's not even trying to hide ...
A four paragraph long review? Only two of which even discuss the game in minor detail? Oy vey.
If you look at the other games this studio has made, they're all utter garbage. This is a production reel designed to show the very best aspects of the game, so of course it's going to look good. It's like saying "I made 100% on all the questions I got right on my exam!"
Not saying this couldn't have been good, just saying you guys are getting worked up over nothing.
I don't know if it blows away Crytek 3 on consoles, but it's damn good. Definitely one of the best-looking engines on consoles, if not the best.
I'm pretty sure Cliff didn't say it's "nearly complete." He said it's "largely designed" -- there's a massive difference between designing a game and a game being complete.
I wouldn't be so quick with the snarky comments if I were you. Android didn't start as an industry goliath, but it's certainly grown into one. And look at where RIM is now -- slowly going downhill. The mobile market is still being developed.
