That is nice to know, as well as most of the manufactures you just mentioned manufacture a BD player to the one HD-DVD player manufacture of Toshiba.
Toshiba has to be losing so much ground on continuing to manufacture those players, makes me wonder just how much is Microsoft helping out? After being in the red for so long with the 360, maybe MS happy spending good money after bad to keep this format alive.
But what you are forgetting is last year, when the 360 was selling all those #'s, it was ALONE! There was no competing console for it to go against. That is not true this year. The PS3 is the new kid in town with some serious system seller games this time around. The 360 will not get the #'s it did last year, and I imagine that the PS3 may just come in 2nd in sales to the Wii. Of course this is all speculation and hear say, but with the PS3 already outselling the Wii in Japan, I think th...
Well considering that during its first year, the "over priced" PS3 had sold 1/2 of what the 360 did in its 2+ yrs of service should tell you something. I am not going to say the PS3 will overtake the 360 by next year, but I can see it catching up to the 360's total sales by 2009. The PS3 is at a nice price point now, there will be a ton of HDTV's sold this holliday season and people will not be happy with a up-converting dvd player so they will look to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Just as...
The only thing that profile 1.1 has over 1.0 that would be of interest is the PIP. However, I originaly purchased the PS3 to be a BD player as I already had a 360, and doing my research into Blue (Blu-Ray) or Red (HD-DVD), I saw longevity into blue which I did not and still do not see in Red. The PS3 was supposed to be updated to profile 1.1 with firmware 2.0, however I do not think it is in there, however, there is also supposed to be a Divx update coming in December so they may update it ...
with something the_Mart would say. Stupid at its most basic level. Gee my 360 just broke and I have these 12 games I enjoy playing, I guess I will sell them on eBay for $5.00 each and forget about the 360 and all my friends. Dumb comment by a Bumb fanboy! And you guys wonder WHY the 360 has good sales figures...9.2 million owners, yet 11 million consols sold! (figures made up to prove a point of 360 owners purchasing multiple consoles after a RROD)
You say "yawn cuzz rrod is played out no one cares anymore...", I say, I do. I just purchased an Elite not more than a month ago and it just RR'd on me. Funny thing is, I just sold my 360 I purchased back in Nov '06 to my son and it is still going strong. I wanted the Elite for the 120gb drive and the HDMI out (and being black to match the rest of my equipment didn't hurt) so ya, I care that the RROD issue has yet to be fixed! And for those of you that say the Falcon board fixes...
It is not that we don't believe that a PS3 can ever break. It is afterall just another electronic device, it is his original comment "Its like a vacuum cleaner every time he plays it. It sucks in the dust then they break" that has everyone saying he is nothing but a 360 troll.
Those of us that truly own a PS3 know that it is nothing close to a vacuum and his post is all the more ridiculous when his second posting says "the 360 is right next to the PS3" and I gues...
I dissagreed with you for you lame comment "Though a sad fact, a console without EA's support is dead in the water."
The PS3 is by no means "dead in the water" just because we choose not to purchase any of EA's dead end ports! And I am sure you are smart enough to realize that comment would get you a lot of dissagrees. Quite frankly I am supprised you don't have more.
In your 2nd post, you bring up a couple of valid points, and yes, EA is/wa...
your posting go from bad to great!
2.1 You sound like a normal 360 fanboy using Vinigar instead of Wine. The main problem I have with this post is that while there may be a learning curve on the PS3, you don't see a developer push out more than 1 or 2 games that don't quite live up to the fame. EA however, has put out 6 ports to the PS3, and all 6 have sucked! And you expect them to get my support? Don't think so!
2.3 This is much better, though I am not su...
BomBomb, Hades07, Benisme, Scrooge: You guys need to buy a clue, or at least a vowel!
Benisme, WTF is your problem? "as i've always said shut the hell up about things you don't own". CrazyMan did not say one thing which was not true! Especially when he states "And if 3rd party developers will want to sell their games on PS3, they will have to make good quality products." Which is a very true statement across all consoles. So Benisme, how about you do u...
Viewing that display on a HDTV is wonderful, make sure you go into display prefs and enable full color support, it is why many articals say the PS3 has poor color. Also, now that you have the PS3 on a hdtv, wait to you watch that first BD movie...WOW!
Last November '06, I was on the plan to purchase the PS3 when it was delayed (again), but then my friends 360 RROD'd on him. Right as he was getting into Gears of War, it died. Well, being let down on the whole PS3 thing, and really liking the GOW and Burnout for that matter, we hopped in my Truck to Walmart and I purchased a 360. I let him use it while his was being fixed and mine was returned to me before Christmas. Then the PS3 launched and there were good reviews, and bad reviews so I...
like Real Gambler suggested, people are looking at the original price and see the HD-DVD is more expensive than the BD so most people will think it is the better choice since it costs more (I can get the better deal type of syndrom). I guess it is up to us BD supporters to go to Amazon and vote for the BD player...its not a commitment to purchase, just a vote on which one you prefer!
gspot, people are voting for the Wii because it is hard to find, and they know they can not ge...
Sir, you will enjoy this game...once Ubisoft releases a patch to stop all the freezing and system lock-ups. There are reports that the 2.01 update from Sony helps, but I did not get a chance to test it last night, I got the update installed, but did not have time to play AC to test if it was more stable.
Well now, arn't you the pot calling the kettle black? And Microsoft is any better with the 360 and the beautiful light show called the RROD? Please! Why is it that you 360 worshipers alwayse come into these boards saying my console is better than yours when the developers themselves states the PS3 is the better of the two. More online players, better visuals, did you think you are going to convince anyone other than yourselves?
Owning both systems, I have yet to see the 360...
That was almost insightfull! I will admit that normally you and I are on opposite corners, but that was great. No fanboyism, no derogatory comments, just wonderful man, I...I...I think that deserves a bubble sir!
Now if we can just get the Mart to at least acknowledge that there are beginning to be some very nice games come to the PS3, we will be making some real headway!
I am very psyched about this game, my wife talked me out of buying it, so that means she p...
bubble to ya there sir!
"and both are backed by quality manufacturers." meaning plural, well Blu-Ray does have over 10 different manufactures from the likes of Denon and LG to Sony and Mit, but HD-DVD only has one, Toshiba. NEC backed out of the deal. So Microsoft is a Red backer supporting Toshiba (Toshiba manufactures the external drive for the 360) while Blue has multiple supporters both hardware and software.
everyone has their opinion, of course 6mil of us Blue users trump the 500,000 or so of the Red backers. To the sum of 70% blue to 30% red if you were to believe all the sales #'s, but go ahead buy your Red format, it will become a collectors item just like the original Laser Disc has become!
Blue has multiple manufactures for not only stand alone set top boxes, but also for the PC sceen. On the PC side, blue has not only readers, but also writers! That is an important part of the equasion. Red has what, one player for the pc, and it is the 360 add-on! Red is a dead format, they discount old discontinued equipment in mass "fire" sales to lead the public into a mass buying frenzy and you may be happy with that, but many of the people who bought those A2's are not goin...
