Ellie absolutely slaughtering David, and then Joel turning up and just embracing her - has to be up there in the top 3 moments from that game.
The mistake was combining both games into one top 10 list. Author could have written two articles and got two sets of clicks, as well as doing justice to so many awesome moment from both games.
Yeah well. How did you miss Joel's cliff hanger lie to Ellie at the end of part 1. If that's not a top 10 moment then half your list isn't either.
Yeah, when the upper management started forcing DICE to mess about with the TTK to appeal to the newbies the whole thing just went down the pan. I'm glad the devs were able to get it back on track - but unfortunately by that time BFV sales had already tanked below expectations; and upper management by that time would'nt want to invest in a sinking ship.
Hopefully, with the inclusion of Portal, Dice will have a gem on thri hands this time.
Sony Santa Monica IS one of the best game studio's out there. How did you figure that SSM doesn't have respect for you? Did they sell you a faulty product? Or did they falsely advertise their product to you, did they overcharge you or insult you in some way? It's one thing to say a company is agnostic towards you, but it's quite another to say that they actively do not respect you.
CDPR is a bit bold asking for feedback, I thought the game was supposed to be done by now. I honestly stopped playing, becasue I'm still holding out hope of one day playing the game that they told me that this game would be.
How much do you want to bet that the lauch will still be a fuster cluck. I really don't understand how after releasing however many online multiplayer games, and having so much experience with network code, they always still manage to bungle the launch everytime. I mean who can remember the last time a mainline Battlefield game had a smooth launch.
Anyway here's hoping, this time will be different...
...yeah right!
I don't know, contrary to popular opinion I'm actually still enjoying BFV, and think it's quite good actually. I had a break and thought I'd jump into the Hell Let Loose beta, all I can say is that it gave me a whole new appreciation for the immediacy and bombast of the battlefield games, especially BFV.
From the Beta announcement dev speil, they said that the beta version of the game is launch ready. So at least they're being honest and letting us know that it is in fact just a demo. Basically what we get to play will be representative of what the game will be at launch.. broken or not.
With China enforcing laws which restrict gaming to 3 hours a week, it's no wonder consoles are sitting on shelves. Imagine how long it would take you to complete an average length RPG.
I'm with you there man. They said that they were way ahead of schedule, with the most amount of teams working on the game that they ever had.... and then it turns out they were not actually ahead of schedule and had to delay the game. Yeah, I'm not holding out much hope that BF2042 will have a good launch.
I honestly thought it would have been Minecraft or Fortnight. Shame you have to buy the book to know what the download numbers are.
It's begining to look like the BF2042 launch is going to be just as fubar as the last couple of Battlefield games.
It really is about how the development pipelines are managed, and setting realistic milestones. It doesn't seem like Sony forces it's devs to hit unrealistic schedules and deadlines, and allows them to have a say if release schedules need to be adjusted. It seems like Insomniac is managed very well, and runs really efficiently. I have no worries at all they they will be able to deliver - my only concern with the Wolverine game is how it will play. I think it will it be abit like the ...
^^Exactly this. You don't delay a game just to polish it. Surely that's what the day 1 patch is for. If EA are delaying a game, it's absolutely because there's something that has gone wrong somewhere.
They have to say that though don't they. It's not as though they would tell us the real issues they were actually dealing with. We've been burnt way too many times to fall for shallow spin. Sure take as much time as you need to make the game great. True it doesn't mean the project is in trouble, it just means that the game is not where you thought it would be at this stage.
@ alb1899
The people say that only really demonstrate that they haven't played Marvel's Spider-man. BTW, Microsoft buying publishers doesn't guarantee a good game, it's the developers themselves who have to have a good pedigree.
Those great games are because of the great studios that Sony has. Insomniac Games has taken the lead as the premiere developer even ahead of Naughty Dog. For xbox to effectively counter Sony's partnership, they need a dev that can do a DC IP justice in the same way Insomniac did with Spider-man. I can see a studio like Ninja Theory making a solid DC game, shame they have their hands full at the moment.
Good article. Well researched. I enjoyed the read. Good job man.
Shame they haven't said anything about the specialist / class system. THat has to be the single biggest problem with 2042 right now. Someone should have told DICE, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
