Do blog posts count as news? Because that's basically what was posted. I completely agree with lawman. This is flamebait, pure and simple. The second that I saw an image that was probably done in MS Paint showing how the Cell processor supposedly works, I knew it was a hack job.
I thought it was based off of the pictures. I couldn't watch the video at work, but thought there was no way that that was in-engine.
These screens look great, especially for pre-alpha builds. And also especially when I'm used to seeing next-gen screenshots. The art direction in GOW and GOW2 is amazing, and makes me shake my head and wonder why they didn't release this for PS3. Hopefully it will be another 9.3 or higher from Gamespot like the first was.
I enjoyed the first Area 51 on my Xbox. Didn't finish it though, long story.. Had to send the broken Xbox back to Gamestop, accidentally sent the rental disc back with the console, got a free new disc back to give back to the rental store, and a working Xbox. All in all I think I only had a chance to play it for about a day or two. I enjoyed the squad based parts a lot. Looking forward to the sequel.
Looks nice, but looks like CGI. If it's not then that's a compliment to the devs that I thought it was.
How is Sony responsible for the output resolutions that 3rd party devs shoot for in their games? Sony provides the capability in the hardware to handle 1080p if the devs choose to. The new Gran Turismo will output at 1080p, Resistance Devs are aiming for it I think, Lair is aiming for that, etc. And for the titles that don't support native 1080p, wouldn't the console be upscaling it to 1080p if the user chose? Not quite as good as native 1080p, but not bad either. It'd at least be better...
Do you understand simple economics? If I were to go out and get a dual-lay Blu-ray disc, yes it would be around $40. But there is no way that Sony or the other studios are paying $40 for that same disc. My guess is that they're paying much less than $5. The reason, they're able to buy these discs in the millions so they get a huge discount. Like DJ has said, if you as a consumer buy one of these discs, you're essentially being their guinea pig and paying for all the new Blu-ray equipment...
To everyone above, I was just posting the article as this is news and I hadn't seen it posted yet. I don't care about this game either way, the thing that did stick out was that it is going to utilize the tilt functionalities of the PS3 controller, as is Warhawk, Full Auto 2, Lair, possibly Resistance, and more that haven't announced much about their game.
The Wii has shown marginally better graphics than the Gamecube. Nothing approaching the level of the difference in Xbox/Xbox 360 titles or PS2/PS3 titles. Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube, the question is how much more powerful. I don't think Nintendo will ever release those figures as they're not out to compete graphically with the other consoles. The consensus seems to be that it's slightly more powerful than an Xbox (which is 5 years old). So if you take that as a significant gr...
It depends on if the third party support drops off as fast as it did for the Gamecube. They're definitely starting out strong, but only time will tell what will happen.
What would happen in the auto industry if it didn't advance technologically? You can take the above question and apply it to any industry. I can compare the Wii to the Xbox 360 and the PS3 as it is a video games machine. Where is the technological upgrade from the Gamecube? Nintendo is just trying to make this mass-market by making your average soccer mom enjoy it, just as she enjoys playing Java based games on Yahoo.
I'm sorry, Nintendo sickens me and I hope that they fa...
This guy only lends credence to what I and many others think, that you're paying $250 for a new control scheme. Yes, you're getting a console, but you're not getting anything that is much more powerful than an Xbox, which is 5 years old. So you're essentially getting a 5 year old console with a prettier design, and a new control scheme for $250. Yes the gameplay may be revolutionary, but this, in my view, is Nintendo's way of gouging the pockets of gamers by releasing a system that they co...
Sounds pretty arrogant to me. By thinking that because they lead the handheld market (which is without question), he thinks that they can continue the trend of releasing underpowered gaming platforms that have an innovative control scheme and continue to dominate. He may actually be right that they may win, but I honestly hope for the sake of us gamers that their formula is not successful. I do not want to play games that look the same as the last generation, but have a new control scheme....
Looking nice. This is PS3 too, by the way. http://www.gamespot.com/ps3...
I haven't read the post yet as it's blocked here at work, but I definitely will as that site has great users and a lot more thoughtful dialog on both sides than what is generally represented here. This site is good for finding news, but as far as discussion goes, it's bad as there are no moderators, no ways of banning members, etc.
These games are just... creepy. :)
Maybe so, but it seems like he has the right ideas about it and seems to be a true gamer. And he does have Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Weta workshop behind him. I'm really hoping it doesn't suck given all of this.
TheMART is ever the fanboy.. Tsk tsk.
I'm not interested in this device. I think it's just Sony testing the waters to see how it sells and if people like the concept. Maybe they're trying to see if people like it and then integrate it into the next iteration of PSP.
The concept is cool, but it's too far before it's time. If wireless internet were everywhere, this would be a sweet device.
This game is looking really good, and it's obvious that this is all in-engine. I don't think Sony is really going to hurt Gears of War at launch unless they bring out a huge surprise like the next Devil May Cry at launch or a month after, or MGS4 with the same scenario. But either way, Sony won't have enough systems out to hurt MS at that point. Plus, Gears of War is a fine looking game in it's own right.
