I am one of the Sony supporters who gave you some credit (actually voted to let you speak), but there's always some haters out there. For every reasonable Xbox supporter like you, there's five Xbox fanboys foaming at the mouth (I had a name in here, but taking it out as it doesn't matter), likewise for Sony supporters. Lots of credit to you for keeping this discussion sane and reasonable (and for not voting lame on every PS3 article, like some people do).
I totally agree with you, except I'm more on the Sony side. The XBox 360 is a great machine, but not for me. It doesn't have the "future-proofing" as you say, that I am looking for. If you're an FPS fan, Xbox 360 is the console for you as it will have much more of them than the PS2 (at least for the foreseeable future). Glad you're enjoying your 360 and maybe I'll join you in a few years when the price is worth the console (to me).

And you know because you've played it? Have you seen any of the screenshots or gameplay footage? Editors on IGN, Gamespot, and 1up are saying that this is going to be the "killer ap" launch title for the PS3. You may not like that the PS3 has a great exclusive shooter, but can't you accept that both platforms will have great AAA games? Gears of War is one of them on the Xbox 360, and so is Resistance: Fall of Man.

I saw this interview the other day, I thought he did a really good job, while acknowledging the critics that say that Sony's executives have been arrogant and addressing a lot of the concerns.
I could care less about Splinter Cell, I just don't like companies talking up exclusivity when it's not true. That's why I remain skeptical.
