Lol yes, the two are completely comparable. One is going around the internet downing any rating score for the game and bitching about the most inane things while the other side is too busy actually playing the game.

Where's that picture of a baby crying? That's pretty much the reaction of those user reviews.

This whole "dumbed down" argument seriously just sounds like a cheap excuse to whinge that a developer isn't developing a game to your specific preferences (a niche one at that).

Oh and supposedly Better selling = Dumbed down.
Micromanaging =/= Smarter = Filler time

LOLOL, input attack, wait a second as character staggers and wobbles to enemy, canned super slow attack animation = AWESOME POWERFUL WOOHOO.

The more I read about the complaints about this game people make, the stupider they get.

"if I was able to continue forward in time in the DA world rather than go through the same Blight again with a different character. "

No, he wants to see the impact of the choices he made in Origins on the rest of world over time. You have 9 years after the Blight to see those effects. FFS, there isn't even a Blight or some great evil to defeat in Hawke's story. It's about his rise to power and legend and his choices that shape Kirkwall. How he's ...

When that opinion is based on factually wrong BS, yeah they get flak.

Um, the beginning first year takes place during the Blight. The game has ten year spanning story, so you do go forward in time past your Grey Warden's story.

Wow. Most of the crap this guy wrote has been proven to be factually wrong. Jesus christ, I don't think I've seen a more deluded fanbase as that of Origins when talking about its sequel and what's in it or not and how it plays. FFS there's an hour demo/q&a with the lead designer on EA that pretty much shows that gameplay wise it's pretty much the same as the first one but these whiners continue whinge about nonexistant problems.

Ha. I've hated every Jim Sterling article and here, I actually agree with him on this one.

"The George Lucas of the gaming world."

Appropriate!

Contrary to your claim, it's your post that sounds like it was written by a 10 year old. Crap story is crap. Crap design is crap. It's okay if you enjoy that they basically design their characters for cosplayers (thanks Nomura!) and their stories are basically copies of your average teen anime (thanks Toriyama!). Really it is. It's also okay when past or hopeful fans call them out on it.

But no, sorry, it is a given that they have churned out hackneyed sequel/preq...

Whatever. I'll believe it when I see it. Mediocre title after mediocre title has soured me on this company making lame ass promises and delivering an underwhelming experience. 5 years for XIII? Blah. 1 year for XIII-2? Probably more of the same with some tacked on "improvments" like NPCs or towns but still annoying characters and a convoluted story that you can't even be bothered to care about.

Most likely reason Versus is being delayed even beyond 2011 is ...

It's amazing how out of touch SE is with communicating with its fanbase. All of this, this freaking conference couldn't have been done in E3? Or TGS? Good grief.

5621d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Empty promise when the game won't be coming out till...indefinitely.

5621d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

Oh and this is classic Square Enix. Pay lip to 'listening to their fans' and they come out with a sequel to one of the most divisive FFs out there instead of the near universally requested HD remakes/sequels to awesome games like FFVI/VII/Xenogears/VagrantS/Bu shido Blade/etc. but nope. Totally in tune with what people want.

Effective cashcow is effective. Guess those unused assets will be put to good use making another mediocre sequel to a mediocre Final Fantasy.

Jim Sterling is the the Armand White of videogame "journalists". Anything that guy puts out is troll bait.

Reading the Kotaku review, it does look like they just released the PS3 version of the game on the PC.

What baffles me is that he calls NV's writing a shadow of FO3. Now don't get me wrong, I love Fallout 3. I played my 5th playthrough a couple of weeks ago to get back in the groove but writing isn't one of FO3's strongpoint. While Obsidian hasn't really made an astounding game this generation, there is one thing they can do very well and that's dialogue, writing, and story.

Looks like a kid in college. FO3 came out in 2008. Dun dun dun.

Very little of it now is about the redesign of the character (which still looks terrible admittedly). Now that it's being handled by a pompous prick (Tameem) and a studio who seems to garner some inexplicable good grace from the gaming press despite only being really known for two mediocre games (HS and Enslaved), both of which have piss poor easy gameplay. Oh, and Jim Sterling seems to love them just for being British. Huh, whoduhthunkit.
