The next Xbox will most likely play everything the 360 can. I think the transition between 360 to next Xbox will feel more like an upgrade.
I still play Xbox games because I can and the 360 supports it. Also there are a few games you can't play anywhere else. Nintendo and MS have a pretty good track record for supporting BC. Sony doesn't, they like to drop BC so they can re-sell you games you already own, with little or no improvements.

Sony are the only ones that don't do BC. Besides MS already said 360 accounts will continue to be supported for games, achievements or dlc beyond 360. Sony likes to re-sell people games they already own

You will not see next gen specs until MS and Sony release them. This is all rumor and speculation, or lies and BS depending on how you look at it. If there is even a nugget of truth to be found, it will most likely be based on dev kit specs. Dev kit specs are pointless if you're a gamer.
Seriously if you can afford a gaming PC chances are they have a console or 2.
