World at War was an excellent game, it was in no way inferior to COD4 or MW2 so I have high expectations.

They often push you to play more of the game.
Example:
You play through a game, put it back on the shelf and play something else, chances are you never play through it again.
Achievements though, you play through a game, then come back to it and say play through on a different setting or play it in a different style to get achievements and enjoy the game in a different way.

The games are very very different, Heavy Rain is pretty much an interactive cutscene, where as Alan Wake is a much much bigger scale world environment.
